    3. Hello Everyone, Dose anyone know of this cemetery that is now the Williams cemetery that was the Britton. I could use any help you can send my way. I have Nichols and Ginger family members there when it was the Britton cemetery in Shelby Co. ILL. Barbara - I am not familiar with Old Mode or Britton Cemeteries. They do not appear on the Shelby County list. There is a cemetery inscription book with Union in it. It stated that at one time it was called Williams Cemetery. Perhaps others may know of the other two. Listed in Union Cemetery were: Charles E. Nichols and Martha A. Nichols and infants - I found these and am attaching them to this email. Listed also was William H. Nichols, 1889-1861 Hardin Nichols, 1884-1958 Gertrude Strohl Nichols [1887-1969 Johnny J. Nichols [1938 - 1956 I was rushed for time this a.m. and did not find the above four but I am sure they are there. There are a couple of newer Nichols stones which are not in the book. There are no Taylors listed other than Julia A. Taylor. If others are buried there, there are no remaining stones for them. I will not be back down to that cemetery anymore this fall but can check again in the spring, if you will remind me. I don't know where to tell you to find the others. Have you checked for a Britton cemetery in perhaps Fayette or Effingham County. I just don't recognize the name. The following http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/databases.html is a good place to check for deaths after 1916. These records can be obtained by following instructions. The records might give burial places. Anyway, I'll send Charles, Martha and infants by email. Hope these come through without too much time involved in downloading. I cut them down in size and you can enlarge them after receiving them. Good Luck - Eileen

    3. Mr Robert, Thank you for your kind and generous offer. I would like anything you know or could find about this family. I have visited the Cemetery and took a lot of pictures. I don't know when they moved back to Dale County, as they are in Coffee County, Enterprise, AL, 1900 and 1910. I have not found them in the 1920 census, but believe they were back in the Daleville area by then. Martha Susan Williams Ellis died 1922, and George Monroe Ellis remarried to Fannie Allen 1928, in Coffee County AL, but he died 1929 and is buried beside Miss Susan. Their children married into the McLean, Bass, Walls & Stephenson Families, if that will help. Again, Thank you for responding and your interest to help. 1. Williams, Henry & Dale County, Alabama Early 1800's
    2. Mary Stephenson
    3. I am looking for help with my Williams family in Henry and Dale County, Alabama, early 1800's. James A Williams b. abt 1825, Absolom Williams b. abt 1827 & Eli Gideon Williams b. abt 1830 were orphaned in Henry County, Alabama and guardianed out in April 1841. Their guardians were Shadrick Ward, Alexander Jenkins and John Scott, in that order, per probate records of Henry County, AL. I have researched all the families of Henry & Dale Counties of that time period and have come up with no parents. A possibility for a mother for these Williams boys is Mary Williams, 1840 Census. She has 6 males and herself, but even at that, who is their father?? Mary Williams 2 males under 5 1 male 5-10 2 males 10-15 1 male 15-20 1 female 30-40 She is not in the 1850 Census. Or could these be the sons of Hill Williams. 1840 Hill Williams 2 males under 5 1 male 5-10 1 male 15-20 1 male 50-60 1 female under 5 1 female 5-10 2 female 10-15 1 female 20-30 (probably a daughter, not a wife) Hill is not in the 1850 census I believe the Daniel 1840 Census has moved up to Barbour County by 1850. G.W. Williams had no children. H.B. had no young males 1840. Jacob was too young I could not find Johns children in his estate, but he did not die until the 1860's. Robbert had only females 1840. Stephen had no children 1840. Thomas J. had 1 son under 5. W. had no children 1840. William is still in the 1850 Census. James A. Williams m. Mary Peake 6/29/1845 Eli G. Williams m. Susan Peake 9/5/1850 I have found nothing on Absolom. I have a little more on Eli, our direct ancestor. He lived in Henry Co 1855, Dale Co 1860, bought land in Henry Co, AL May 1, 1861, then went to Montgomery Al. and joined the 6th Infantry on May 6th, was killed in Richmond May 20, 1862 and is buried in Hollywood Cem. there in Richmond. Susan Peake Williams lived out her life in Dale Co., AL as far as we can find. Probate records show Eli Williams had an estate, but it was never recorded. I have his family through 1880. His daughter, Martha Susan m. George Monroe Ellis in the early 1880's. They are buried at Macedonia Cem near Daleville. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. ~~"Have you forgotten, how we felt that day?" ~~ Never forget 9-11-01

    1. Associated Surnames
    2. Has anyone found the surnames Keeney or Faison associated with your Williams line? The documentation of these surnames might include ties to North Carolina, Alabama or Texas. Just curious. Larry

    1. Anything to Add? John & Mary KEELING Williams Line Question on Henderson List
    2. JRA
    3. How-dee Williams cousins, I thought I would post this information here for I not only have many Williams lines, I am sure we add more every day who follow this line but do not subscribe to both lists. Message Board Post: My wife is a descendant of Davis Williams. I only came upon your ancestry of Davis recently. I had been looking for that for a long time. You have his parents as Daniel Williams and Ann Henderson. I had concluded his father was Jefferson Williams, but on the very thin evidence that in 1801 Davis sold land in Edgefield Distr., SC, that had originally belonged to Jefferson Davis (whose wife was Frances, and Davis named children both Jefferson and Frances; and Martha Stringer also named a son Jefferson). My main question then is, How certain is the evidence that Davis's father was Daniel? By the way, I have three more children of Davis, born 1807-1811. My wife's connection is from Davis's daughter Rhoda, who married Morris Gwyn. They moved to Fayette Co., AL, where their track is clear to the present (my wife came from there). I would value your comments. Joseph Lambert Message Board Post: There is more than one Davis Williams in South Carolina. The 'other' Davis is buried in Hurricane Cemetery in SC. Glover's note for $500.00 (Total), $2030.75 1/2. Three other children? The only children we know of born between this time period are: G2/3Grandfather William Butler Williams 28 February 1807 *Caroline HOWZE/HOWE/HOUSE Williams (2 wife, G3Grandmother) & G4Uncle & Step-G3Grandfather Dr. James Levingston Williams, 27 June 1809 G4Uncle Phillip Williams 06 March 1811 Of course there were children born before & after them. The Davis family was close to the Williams family, which to my understanding is why there were two children with Davis names. Same with the Dawson family. These families were very close, including the Lane family which they also married into through Abygail's sister Rhoda Nicholson who married Thomas Lane, son of Loyalist Edward Lane; making Rhoda an Aunt of mine on both sides of Dad's family for Thomas brother James is my G5Grandfather on my Stallings side. Rhoda, as I am sure you know, is named for her grandmother Rhoda WHITEHEAD Nicholson. Please feel free to e-mail for I would love to share information :). Sincerely, Lena This particular Williams line is through my great-grandmother, my Dad's Grandmother side of the family. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. Hampton, Franklin, John, and Richard Williams in Henderson County TN !850-1870
    2. Brec Morton
    3. I am interested in finding out more about the following Williams men in Henderson County, TN. Found in the US census from 1850 through at least 1870. Particularly Hampton Williams b.circa 1823 in VA. In all the censuses his wife is listed as Mary A. b. VA. In his household in 1850 (Henderson County, Dist 7), there is a Nancy Johnson who may be his Mother-In-Law. I think she may be the wife of Wiley Johnson who was in the 1840 census in the same area. Does anyone have any further information about this family? I think they are related to the two Josiah Morton's located on the same page of the 1850 census through the elder Josiah Morton b. circa 1799 and his wife Nancy Johnson, b.circa 1801, who I believe to be the daughter of Wiley. The other male Williams on the same page are: Franklin -85 b. VA, wife Ann John -60 b. VA, wife Nancy Richard -24(?) b. NC, wife Nancy Issac (hard to read ?) -22 b. NC unmarried and living with John John -20 b. NC unmarried and living with John I would like to find out more about this Williams family and any information you might have about their Johnson and Morton relatives (?). Thanks for looking. And happy searching. Brec Morton Kansas City
