    1. Williams/Baltimore/Anne Arundel
    2. Regina Adam
    3. My ancestor Thomas Stockett Williams was born 19 August 1812 in Maryland. According to a Bible Record, his parents were Richard (A. or E.) Williams and Elizabeth Hait (Hate) who married 7 September 1811 in Baltimore, Maryland. Other children born to them were: Sarah Ann Williams born 25 October, 1814 and Richard D. Williams born 28 December, 1817. According to same Bible record, parents Richard Williams died May 25, 1835 and his wife Elizabeth died 19 March 1835. Do not know where they died or where they were buried. I have tried for many years to see if there was a connection to Richard Williams who married Eleanor Stockett back in 14 February, 1709. I have hit a brick wall!! Thomas Stockett Williams and Richard D. Williams migrated on to Muskingum County, Ohio where they both married and then to Wapello County, Iowa with their families. Any help appreciated! Regina Adam

    1. Williams in Missouri
    2. Where did your Williams ancestors live in Missouri? I have a great-grandmother without a family. Someone named F.M. Williams consented for her marriage in 1885, in Lawrence County, MO. Ten years of searching has brought me no closer to discovering the names of her parents and siblings.

    3. This may help some Williams researchers. _______________________________________________________ Williams: My Richard Williams (1684-1768) lived in Ann Arundell County, Maryland. Interestingly enough, his father's name was Joseph. Joseph died 1693/4 in Baltimore. According to something I printed out from the internet, and can't seem to find again, Richard Williams died Dec. 2, 1768. and his April 1768 will "names children Richard, Joseph (had son Kinnard), Stockett (had son Richard), and grandchildren Chaney & Joseph Wms., Sarah Eleanor Richardson, Eleanor Welsh/Welch. Tracts mentioned: Hickory Hills, Franklings Enlargement. Ref: The Maryland Calendar of Wills, vol. 14, p. 66." 1. Thanksgiving Dinner-Invitation to John E. Williams
    2. Myra Best Christeck
    3. For Thanksgiving Dinner, I'd invite my great-grandfather, John E. Williams, who materialized out of the ether in May of 1861 without parents and disappeared back into the ether shortly after May of 1910. There are a multitude of questions I would ask: Were you born in Danville, Vermilion County, IL or Alton, Madison County, IL? (Your children had no idea which one is correct? Maybe neither one is. . .) And what is your middle name? Elden, Elvis, Edwin. All of those names circulate in your children's and grandchildren's names. Which one is yours? Was your father really John D. Williams or was that permission slip for you to marry underage a forgery by you? Who, by the way, was your mother? No one has a clue what her name was. . . Christian or Surname, for that matter. Where did your parents come from? Did you have any brothers or sisters? Why did you leave Great-Grandma Sarah Anna Margaret Clifford for another woman between 1910 and your death? Who was she? Where did she bury you? Grandma says she was a minister's widow with a daughter. Your Granddaughter Margaret Best East says you are in a cemetery near Jerseyville, IL, but your new woman didn't put up a headstone. When did you die, anyway? Were you really a coal mine inspector in Illinois from 1890-1910 or was that your ego speaking on the censes? The state of Illinois says you didn't work for them. . . Do you have relatives in Missouri? Grandma Florence Williams Best says that you used to take her to visit family in Missouri when she was little. She was born in Martinsburg, Precinct, Audrain County, in 1886, but I can't find any relatives there that might be related. Was your dad really born in France? You said that on the 1900 Census, but not before or after. Is it possible he born in England and just picked up the immigration boat from France? Have you been trying to hide all of these years or is it a natural gift you had? If you stick with me for another 15 years, I'll probably have more questions to ask. . .

    3. You might try the genealogical society for that county or the pùblic library. They will often search for a nomial fee to see if he is listed in one of the area cemeteries. They can also make copies of the cemetery listings for that surname and you can do your own searching. Often, there are so many small cemeteries that they won't necessarily show up on-line - yet. 3. I would have my father, Harley Glen Williams, who died 6 Jul 2001. I would ask him all the things I should have asked him before he died. What do you remember about your grandparents Joseph (Josiah) Hardin Williams (b 13 Jun 1851 in Louisville, Kentucky) and Adeline Susan Dawson Williams (b 8 Feb 1847 in Missouri)? I know he said they lived on a farm in Willow Springs, Missouri with their children: Charles Preston Williams, Docia Williams, Bert Thomas Williams (my grandfather), Monroe Williams, Ed Williams, and Lena Williams. I would ask him about his Thanksgivings with his parents, Bert T. Williams an Elsie Grace Oaks and his siblings, Raymond, Galen, Nona, Bert, Gene, and Orville. I would tell him I found the unknown Williams - Isaac "Ike" Williams born 1827 in Hickman, Kentucky (born to Josiah Williams(born abt. 1760 and died 9 Apr 1865 in Hickman Co. Kentucky) and Mary L. Polly Tweedle (born 9 Jan 1805 in Georgia died 1870 in Hickman Co., Kentucky. Josiah Williams' father was Daniel Williams born est. 1723-1733. Daniel was born before his father married a Hundley. We need to appreciate our relatives now, especially the older ones who have so much history to tell us. I would love sharing all the information I have found from corresponding online with descenents who are willing to share all their hard research. 3. That's an easy one: I'd have my gg-grandfather Elijah Williams over for dinner, ask him where the heck in North Carolina he was born 17 November 1790, ask him if he had any other siblings than the three we know of, and ask him the biggie: "Who were you parents and where did they come from?" As I withhold the turkey and dressing until he answers, I'll explain to him that three generations of descendants of this family have been trying to get these pieces of information since the 1920s. The 215th anniversary of Elijah's birth falls exactly one week before Thanksgiving, so I'd be willing to cut him some slack after he answers those questions...he's bound to be a little tired. --Hughes Williams http://www.relatedlines.com/ ----Original Message Follows---- From: Carol C-H <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [WILLIAMS] LISTOWNER POST - Thanksgiving Dinner Date: Mon, 07 Nov 2005 21:02:14 -0600 Those of us in the USA will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving. Washburn of Madison died suddenly at his home on Pine Street, Sunday night at the age of 52, after an illness of about ten weeks of tuberculosis. "While his relatives and friends knew that it was only a matter of time before he must pass on still the end at this time was wholly unexpected and came as a great shock to the entire community of which he was a loved and respected member. "Mr. Washburn was a member of the Baptist church and always an active worker in the choir, the church and the Sunday School and in all three various places it will be hard to find a man, always so ready and cheerful and always at his post. "Mr. Washburn had been assistant janitor at the library and the school buildings until failing health in the spring forced him to give up active work, and by his unfailing courtesy and faithfulness to his duties endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact." 3. Check Anson Co., NC census in 1800's. There was a Henderson Williams, son of William Williams but I don't know if he migrated to AL. An inquiry to Union Co., NC may produce some valuable information. (That part of Anson Co. became Union Co. in 1842.) Dorothy C.
