    3. Oh yes, "James DEAN", the original rebel, and a life cut short. Our "James Dean WILLIAMS" was born in 1956. He was born with a birth defect, a serious one; and they thought he could not live long. But he did, and he had a wonderful personality, an unusual sense of humor, he was involved in sports (mostly the individual type), charity work through the Lions helping to produce a local variety show benefit, as writer, actor and singer. His death came in 2004, he lost to round three of cancer. His life of pain was over. 1. [WILLIAMS] - Thanksgiving Dinner - Elisha Williams 1728, MD
    2. Sergio Salés Reyes
    3. My choice would be to invite Elisha WILLIAMS b. 1728/35 so he could tell about his experiences during the Revolutionary War. He was a delegate to the first State Convention that helped frame the constitution of Maryland. Did he suffer any consequences for his part in the Rev. War? I'd also like to ask him about his son, Thomas Swearingen WILLIAMS who married Ann BECKWITH in 1814. Who were her parents? I would like for Elisha WILLIAMS' wife, Ann VAN SWEARINGEN, my GGGGG Grandmother to tell us about her parents. John and Mary were married when Mary was 16 and they were married for 84 years. One lived to be 100 and the other 102. It could make for a very interesting meal. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Janni

    1. [WILLIAMS] - Thanksgiving Dinner - Dr. John A. WILLIAMS 1826, IN
    2. Sergio Salés Reyes
    3. This was a great question. For Thanksgiving, I would enjoy inviting my Great, Great Grandfather, Dr. John Allen WILLIAMS to join us. He was born in 1826 or 1827 in Indiana. My curiosity is regarding his wives' names, where they met, etc. His first wife was Sarah Emmeline/Evaline FORD or Katherine FORD. They had six or seven children and then Sarah disappears. Was Sarah Emmeline the same person as Katherine? Where was Sarah from? During the Civil War, he married a widow named Virginia (FULTON) FODGE whose husband had died in the war, leaving her with three children. After John and Virginia were married, they then had six more children. In total, there were 13 children from the three marriages. So, I would ask him about his wives' names. I would also like to know what became of all those other children. My Great Grandmother, Laura WILLIAMS, is in a group picture with 10 of her siblings, taken at the funeral for one of her sisters. Do any of their descendants get together for a family reunion now? Lastly, I would like to know where John and his wives are buried. I have searched high and low and have not found the place where they are buried. Are they buried in Pee Wee Cemetery, outside of Anderson, IN? Thank you. Janni

    1. [WILLIAMS] Thanksgiving Dinner - Leah Williams 1677
    2. Sergio Salés Reyes
    3. Hello, List. If I could invite my Williams ancestor, I would invite Leah WILLIAMS. She was married to Ralph JACKSON in Henrico Co., VA around 1677 and according to some accounts was the daughter of William WILLIAMS. She later married one John PATTISON. I would like for her to tell me who her mother was and from where her Williams family came. I would also ask her the surname of the person her son, Joseph, married. Her first name was Martha but I don't know her last name. Something else to listen to, would be the story about where her husband, Ralph, came from in England and if it is true he came over as an indentured servant, to Francis EPPES. Lastly I would ask her where they buried her husband, Ralph JACKSON and if she is buried beside him. There is a modern marker on their land and several pieces of destroyed cemetery stones but none for Ralph and Leah that we could find. Did they ever celebrate something similar to a Thanksgiving? We do have a lot to be thankful for. One thing is our wonderful heritage and great nation! Janni Smith Salés

    1. Re: [WILLIAMS]Was it a "simpler" time and James Dean
    2. I think all of this about the past or the present being the more simple time is a very complicated subject. Some parts of life are more simple now and others are more complex and stress producing than in times past. I hope people don't argue about it anymore. It's interesting to discuss the subject, but I don't think there is a black and white answer. This year I think I would invite James Dean (1931-1955) the movie star to the Williams' Thanksgiving dinner. Did everyone know that he is related to one of the Quaker Williams' lines? He was my way-distant cousin. He would liven things up! Have a wonderful holiday! Sincerely, Susan Susan E. 3. You say "simpler time" now? To me the computer technology (sp?) is not simple. I am always having to learn something new; at my almost 68 years that is not a simple thing to do. Today may be more comfortable, temperature-wise; but I find the speed of things more stressful. Driving is more stressful because there is much more traffic. 3. :-( My Wrights are from KY and then Ilinois, where somehow my ggg grandmother met E.V. Williams and they got married and move to Wisconsin. I lost after her father, Andrew Wright. I know he's from KY, but I don't know where. 1. Re: [WILLIAMS] Meeting our Ancestors
    2. Mike McDonald
    3. First off, I apologize for my earlier comments and did poorly to express them even though it should not have been done here. Secondly, I still thank every person who has helped me in my search for my wife's side of the family and as always more then willing to share what I have. If I had the ability to visit with an ancestor, on my wife's side of the family, it would be John Williams who was born about 1803 from what all records show in Belmont County, Ohio. On Jan 28, 1836 he married Elizabeth Stringer, daughter of John and Elizabeth (?) Stringer. Among the normal things I would love to know why when they moved the family to Marshall County, WV their daughter Elizabeth did not move along with them in 1860 and to find out what happened to her and where she ended up. I would really love to find out everything that text books never taught us, what was life really like then. I would like to find out who exactly his parents where and where they came from. If I may though, my ulitimate ancestor would be (for anyone researching the McDonald family) Jacob (John) McDonald who married Lydia Pangborn about 1770 after moving to New York from Scotland. I would love to find out if he only sailed from Glascow or if that was where he was really from. I think that it would be something to hear the stories of what it must have been like to sail across the ocean in a wooden boat when now we only have to drive as far as the closest airport to travel that far. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! Mike --- Jeff Boehm <[email protected]> wrote: > If our ancestors didn't want more, such as we do > now, we would not > have what we do now. 3. Iris, Your John C Williams, do you where he was born? I am currently chasing my wife's GGG Grandfather John Williams who married Elizabeth Stringer and also had a son by the name of John Cross Williams. The John C Williams that I have was born about 1803 in Belmont County, Ohio. Mike --- [email protected] wrote: > Dorothy, > > I say yea and amen to this. 1. It was a "simpler" time? I think not.

    3. This discussion may be getting near to the point where we should stop. But I just wanted to add my own comment here which I don't think is of a political nature. Someone made a comment that seemed to infer he/she thought the "old days" of our ancestors was the "simpler time". I have heard that before. But I happen not to think that is true at all. Our day-to-day lives today are tremendously simpler than the much more complex day-to-day lives our ancestors lived. I myself am 71 years old and remember times back in the 30s & 40s. This is most definitely the simpler time, even compared to that time! Modern technology and the benefits now available make things tremendously simpler for the vast majority of us Americans today, certainly NOT more complex. Think about it.
