His gravestone says that he was aged 73 when he died in Dec 2 1883 and that "he was a native of Yorkshire". From this I can infer that he was born in 1809 or 1810. Searching through the International Genealogical Index however I found four siblings born in Patrington, Yorkshire to a William and Ann Wilkin. The children were: Mary christened 18 July 1803 John christened 9 July 1806 William christened 12 November 1809 Thomas christened 14 November 1813 This seems a good match though two other siblings are missing - Henry and Louisa.
