    1. [WILKIN] William & Ann Wilkin - PATRINGTON, YORKSHIRE
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dsocarroll Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wilkin/177/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My William went to the West Indian island of Montserrat in 1835. His gravestone says that he was aged 73 when he died in Dec 2 1883 and that "he was a native of Yorkshire". From this I can infer that he was born in 1809 or 1810. Searching through the International Genealogical Index however I found four siblings born in Patrington, Yorkshire to a William and Ann Wilkin. The children were: Mary christened 18 July 1803 John christened 9 July 1806 William christened 12 November 1809 Thomas christened 14 November 1813 This seems a good match though two other siblings are missing - Henry and Louisa. If you have any links to these names do you know if they went to the West Indies or definitely didn't! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A native of Yorkshire may just mean that the family originaly came from Yorkshire, not that William was born there himself: but I will stick with Yorkshire for now. c. Author: Rob_wilkin Surnames: Wilkin, Flavell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wilkin/81.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I have an incomplete wilkin family tree that stretches from 1773 with William Wilkin of Wentworth who married a Mary Flavell of cottenham. Your post struck me because the son and father are both called William and they pre-date the earliest i have. From the family tree i have it is clear that having the name william somewhere in the name is part of a family tradition that stretches back on my tree to 1773, sadly my father's generation and his father's generation were unaware of such a tradition. I was wondering if you had any information as to where the two William Wilkin's you mentioned were from, as my tree is all based around cambridgeshire Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
