Hi, since I was the administrator for many of the Wilk* name lists, I have decided to continue them, under one email list, called Wilk-association. You may subscribe to that list at Wilk-association@groups.io When you go to the above list to subscribe, you will be given the choice of single email, or digest, so you can keep the same listing as you had before. Once you get signed up, please give a listing of you Wilk* ancestors and locations. Lets see if we can help each other out. Surnames included, but not limited to: Wilk, Wilks, Wilke, Wilkes, Wilkin, Wilkins, & Wilkinson Jan

She offered Richard her eldest son, and myself, his present partner, the findings she had on her father's family history..for us to look further into. We were particularly interested as Richard's recent DNA test showed markers for West Africa and we now know a little about the West Indies link and William Wilkin of Yorkshire settling in Montserrat . We saw there were children from marriages and out of marriage..and many of them! Joan, born 1934 in Exmouth, is Harold's daughter with Lilian Wilkins, formerly Catling. Harold and Lilian married in Bournemouth in 1932. Harold died young in 1935. I will take a look at your family tree info, thank you, and let you know if I find anything of interest to fill in gaps. The photo was taken by the E. R. Curtiss Studio in Madison, WI, and shows Sadie holdiing a graduation certificate, and about age 20-21. I did a census search for Sadie and found her as age 18, named Sarah in the 1880 census, as daughter of William and Jane Chambers. The 1870 census for Springfield, Dane Co., shows her as Sarah J., age 8. She was a high school teacher, and married in 1887 to Charles A. Wilkin. Charles was a Univ. of Wisconsin 1874 graduate, was a high school principal and before 1900, he and Sarah moved to Park Co., CO where he was an attorney, the District Atty. and mayor of Fairplay, CO. They lived Fairplay 1900/1910 and in Denver 1929/1930. Very aggravating. I did some research in Killeevan Church of Ireland records while I was in Ireland, but I didn't see a marriage for John Wilkin(s) and Mary Ann Williamson, nor the baptisms of any of their children. I could have overlooked an entry or two, but not as many as their marriage and number of children would have created. Church of Ireland records in the parish of Newbliss have baptisms from 1841-on, and burials/deaths from 1837-on. Newbliss parish was formed out of Aghabog and Killeevan parishes (see PRONI's church guide under KILLEEVAN), so you should find earlier Newbliss residents/ church records in Killeevan parish. Those Church of Ireland records begin in 1811. Aghabog's early Church of Ireland records didn't survive. There were a few Newbliss-resident entries in Killeevan Church of Ireland burial records: John Wilkins of Newbliss was buried October 1817, aged 64. [No burial location stated, but the early burials were mainly at Drumswords] Mary Wilkin of Newbliss was buried March 1st, 1831, age 57, buried at Drumswords. There's a lot about these particular Wilkins in "Ulster Protestant Emigration to Lower Canada: Megantic County and St-Sylvestre" by Gwen Barry. According to these Megantic Co. records and genealogies: WILKIN(S) JOHN b IRELAND, Newbliss, Co Monaghan, m in Ireland to MARY JANE WILLIAMSON. Mary Jane died at sea on the way to Canada in 1830. John and his children settled in Leeds Tp, as follows : 1. WILKIN JOSEPH m 1st to ANN HALL d 1841. Child Isaac b 1841. Married 2nd in 1841 to CATHERINE CORDICK. The family left Newbliss in the roughly 1845 and ended up in Leeds, Magentic County, Quebec. Family lore has it that John and Mary Jane perished during the trans-Atlantic journey, leaving James to care for and raise his then 15 year old brother Robert. This information comes from the Family History Library's International Genealogical Index, not an original source. This sounds like a church record, but I haven't been able to identify the church. It isn't the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, Orange Co., NY or the St. James Episcopal Church, Goshen, Orange Co., NY since I have access to transcriptions of the records for both churches and this christening isn't listed. As far as I know, these are the only churches in Goshen, so it may be that the record is from a church that is nearby. That is the information that I am looking for, i.e. is this an actual church record and, if so, what church is it from? The names of the sponsors for this christening could help me place Elizabeth in my WILKIN(S) family. Thanks very much for whatever help anyone can provide.
