One is a site with over 800 search engines on it. <A HREF="http://www.beaucoup.com/engbig.html"> Search Engines -- Beaucoup, The BIG Page (wit...</A> This is a page for the Marathon County Public Library on-line catalog. <A HREF="http://www.mcpl.lib.wi.us/">Marathon County Wisconsin - Public Library</A> This is for the on-line catalog for all the Wis. libraries. <A HREF="http://wiscat.brodart.com/"> Wiscat On-Line Catalog</A> And this is for the State Historical Society of WI on line catalog. <A HREF="http://www.library.wisc.edu/">University of Wisconsin-Madison Electronic Li...</A> You might wonder why these are important - and so did I until I went to a Marathon County Gen. Soc. meeting last night - where the speaker showed us how wonderful these catalogs can be. I myself have gone to the State His. Soc. and had not the faintest clue about how to find what I was looking for. Now I can access the catalog at home, and search for my subject, and find out exactly where it is located. (For example, if I wanted to find the books for Massachusetts Revolutionary War soldiers - I would access it under subject) (Saves valuable time down at Madison!) The Wis sites can also be used to see what library has which books - possibly for inter-library loans. The search engine site is great for looking up gen. resources - and each one uses different criteria - so if you are entering a surname or specific site, try several - you'll get different results.
