The address is: Area Reseach Center University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Stevens Point, WI 54481 Ph 715-346-2586 e-mail [email protected] The researchers have been very helpful to me in the past. The cost is $5.00 per search, and .25 per copy. A bill will be sent to you. The following is also about the archives of Stevens Point. from Andy Bartelt of Stevens Point. You can also email the UW-SP library and have them check their 1972 Wausau Centennial Collection for your surname: http://www.shsw.wisc.edu/archives/arcnet/stevens.html If your name is listed there they will make you a copy of the record and mail it to you for a nominal fee. This collection consists of thousands of family genealogies of Wausau residents which were done for their centennial celebration. They sent out volunteers to all the residents and took down their family histories. The LDS is currently negotiating with the library to microfilm this collection and may eventually be available at their research centers. You can also do research and check the index AND genealogy holding for free in their research room on the 5th floor of the campus library. UW-SP is a repository (as are all the main UW campuses) for a 5 county area adjoining Portage County and contains numerous school, birth, death, marriage, naturalization, etc. records for these 5 counties and as taxpayers we can search these records free. Nominal fees for photocopies.
