Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln/10262 Surname: BELL ------------------------- Here are additional items concerning my research on the Bell families in Lincoln County. My Bell connections to Lincoln County are by the way of Peter Bell who moved there in 1883. His wife's name was Henrietta. They had Gertrude, Francis, George, Eugene, Charles and Laura. Peter is buried in the Catholic portion of the cemetery by Memorial Park in Merrill and died at the age of 39 in 1893. I was able to locate a copy of his obituary by searching through the microfilmed newspapers at T.B.Scott Library, starting from the date of his death and found it that way. The article mentions that he originally was from Canada, however, I have since found a delayed birth record of his son, George, that says George was born in Marshfield, so he was probably in Marshfield at least a couple of years. What I am wondering about is Â…did any of Peter's brothers move up to the Merrill-Tomahawk area to work in the mills and factories also. I have been thinking about that for years but just didn't know of anyone to tie it to as none of my remaining Bell relatives know of names of Peter's parents or his sisters or brothers. His obituary did not mention any other names, just that he had six young children. If you happen to see anything that might look like it fits please let me know. Peter's wife, Henrietta, was a seamstress in Merrill. I found that out when I was looking through some of the old newspapers on microfilm at the library--just happened to see it. There was a mention of her opening her second shop at Grand Ave. and Prospect, I believe. She was also called Etta Bell.
