Posted on: Lincoln Co. Wi Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln?read=190 Surname: DREW, HUTCHINS, WETZEL, WYANT ------------------------- I'm looking for information on the family of Ralph DREW. Ralph was born on 1 Aug. 1883 in Russell Township, Lincoln Co. His parents were; Thomas P. DREW and Phoebe WYANT DREW. In 1903 Ralph married Gertrude HUTCHINS, daughter of; Edward HUTCHINS and Ida DAVIS HUTCHINS. Ralph and Gertrude had two children; Ellis(1903) and Doris(1905). I have them listed in the 1910 Federal Census as living in Russell Township. In 1921, Ralph married Hedwig WETZEL in Lincoln Co. I'm trying to determine what happened to Gertrude? I have checked Death Records for this county and have found nothing. Any further information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Glad to see your post on the DREW family; it added some information to my files, especially Ralph's earlier children. I have a marriage date for Ralph DREW and Gertrude HUTCHINS of 22 Mar., 1903, in Merrill, Wis., and a death date for her of 15 Nov., 1916. I apologize that I did not make a note of the origin of the death date; I think I took it off her tombstone and I think she's in the Bloomville graveyard. It's a little country cemetery off Highway 17 and there are a number of Drews and Wyants there. My grandmother, Amelia Rachel VAUGHAN, married Roy Matthew DREW, Ralph's brother (after divorcing Jay Pool DREW, another brother) and I have had a lot of difficulty piecing together DREW genealogy. You've helped place Dorris in the family (always spelled with two Rs on labelled family pictures). There is one living person who might be able to give you more information about Gertrude HUTCHINS, and that's Hazel ECKLUND DREW. She's related through the WYANTs and she also married Ralph's first cousin once-removed, Bob DREW. Hazel is 90 and lives in a small retirement apartment on the edge of Gleason and I can't find a number for her in the Merrill phone book. Perhaps a good soul on this list who lives in that area will give both of us Hazel's number. Hazel is sharp as a tack and knows the family history very well. Good luck!
