I'm just beginning to research the Natzke family and am looking for ANY info on the siblings or ancestors of William H. Natzke, born 1903. Also on his wife, Elsie Scheu. Any connections? Karen

Hi I was just told of a site where you can get lots of county infomation - size, population, government etc for any county in the US. It is http://www.com/hpi/ for WI it is http://www.com/hpi/wicty/index.html -----and you can reach any other state from this page too. I am going on vacation from Sept 5 to the 20. We are driving to Vancouver and Seattle and I am looking forward to it! So, if you have questions or queries, I will be unavailable for this period. By the way, from what I see on some of my other mailing lists, I think the Marathon and Lincoln County lists are the BEST!! Shelley
Sorry folks!!! I messed up the address to my website! http://www.ameritech.net/users/cindyjohnson1/Family_history.htm I hope you will all check it out!!! Cindy Johnson

Has anyone done any listings of the Merrill Memorial Cemetery? I read recently of all the info a researcher was able to obtain off the Manitowoc county website, census, letter of intent, cemetery etc. Am I not looking in the right places for this info? Appreciate your help and all you do for fellow researchers! Beth Raasch Prior Lake, MN
I am planning a visit to Clark Co on Tuesday of this week and thought I'd also get to Lincoln Co. - Tomahawk, in particular. My grandfather (Oscar Peterson) moved there from Owen (Clark Co) and began the Service Drug Store. My father (Thomas J. Peterson) was born and grew up in Tomahawk. Can anyone suggest places to get information right in Tomahawk since my time will be limited? I assume the drug store is still there - will snap a picture of that. My dad's mother is buried in Calvary Cemetery along with other of her family members (Kilroe). Can someone give me "easy" directions? Does the library have resources? Are there copies of old high school yearbooks somewhere (from the early 1940's)? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mary (Peterson) Saggio Ozaukee Co., Wisconsin [email protected]

Hi! With this message I am trying to get help in my quest for Belgian descendants in your area. I am living in Belgium, and am doing research on the emigrants from a specific area in Belgium, the Waasland, to the United States and Canada between 1830 and 1950. If you would like to know more about this project, I invite you to my web site at http://www.ping.be/picavet/ In the frame of this research, I have already visited Wisconsin on two occasions, in 1995 and 1996. Places I am "familiar" with are Milwaukee, Green Bay, Aurora, Ashland, and Superior. This is not a coincidence: most of my people initially settled there. Most of them emigrated between 1850 and 1910. According to the 1990 Census, Wisconsin had one of the largest concentrations of Belgian descendants in the United States. ---------------------------- Belgian ancestry reported as: State Population First Second Single -------- -------- ----- ------ ------ Michigan 9,295,297 37,442 22,824 18,966 Wisconsin 4,891,769 36,822 25,681 19,133 Most of them can be found in Brown 194,594 16,696 11,407 8,310 Kewaunee 18,878 4,825 1,431 3,251 Door 25,690 2,864 1,248 1,844 Milwaukee 959,275 1,389 1,381 597 Outagamie 140,510 1,303 1,500 543 Oconto 30,226 1,081 736 719 Dane 367,085 761 662 293 Manitowoc 80,421 721 702 342 Marinette 40,548 666 654 340 Waukesha 304,715 639 690 225 (pls let me know if you are interested in this information for other counties) Since it will be difficult to know for anyone not familiar with the families from my area, if a specific family is fitting in my project or not, I am actually looking for any Belgian family in your area. In return, I will also assist any Belgian descendant to trace his roots in Belgium. With this in mind, I have set up my web site, which is containing complete guidelines for anyone starting to trace his Belgian roots. Moreover, I recently started a mailing list especially for these same researchers: BELGIUM-ROOTS-L, also hosted by RootsWeb. It would be nice to hearing from you. Hi all, You have probably heard about the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Family History Conference coming to Madison this October. It is going to be a marvelous conference, over twenty great speakers and many vendors. Thank you, the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society appreciates your support. <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~wsgs/wsfhc.html">Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Family History Conference</A> I will be there - my sister and I have our reservations already. Hi - Thanks to Marcia, Joyce, Betty and Char- I now have MANY obits for Marathon County. I am starting to enter current obits for Lincoln County, and Betty Martz has kindly offered to enter current obits for Marathon County. I certainly appreciate the work that has gone into sending in these obits. I am thinking of changing my config system so that anyone can enter the obits and biog, instead of forwarding them to me. (Hopefully in the near future this will get changed!) I certainly want to thank all those listed above for your help. PLEASE SEND ME ANY OBITS, BIOS, AND QUERIES,( <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarath/index.htm">Marathon County WIGenWeb </A> )YOU MAY HAVE FOR YOUR ANCESTOR - and check out the new GenConnect pages. I also was given a new list of material that Sharon Karow of Merrill has and it includes quite a bit of Marathon County, miscellaneous info of other counties, and of course, lots on Lincoln County. Check out the Lincoln county lookups page. <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~wilincol/">Lincoln County Wisconsin WiGenWeb</A> AND SEND YOUR OBITS, BIOS AND QUERIES! I was just nominated for the Palmer Award. This award was created to recognize the volunteer efforts of the County Coordinators in the USGenWeb project.. But if it weren't for all the help and the response I get from all of you, this would not have occurred. ( I haven't had time to enter the award on my Marathon County page yet - but soon!) I am the caregiver for my almost 90 year old aunt - and I spent most of yesterday in the emergency room and today she is having surgery for a cracked hip. So I will fall behind on keeping up with these pages for a while, but will get all taken care of soon. Thanks again to all of you--- Shelley

Some of the Wisconsin counties are now using the wonderful new system of GenConnect for Queries, Obits, and Biographies. The surnames are automatically archived and can be searched on a national or state level. On Marathon County WI and Lincoln County WI the links are on the main pages. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarath http://www.rootsweb.com/~wilincol Wood and Portage Counties are also on this system. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiportag Marcia and I urge all who are interested in these counties to submit your queries, obits and biographies. Enjoy! Shelley

Hi - I have done an index of prominent citizens (and locations) of Tomahawk from the beginning of the city, until about 1923. Go to the main page and click on the links to Tomahawk. <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~wilincol/">Lincoln County Wisconsin WiGenWeb</A> I also have added an automatic query system - I reposted all of 1998 queries, and if you are not listed, please post again. I will send out a notice to all the queries that I did NOT repost, to do so. This is a good way to test e- mail addresses too! Any questions - please write, Shelley
I have an old photo, taken probably around 1920 in Bradley or Tomahawk. It shows a group of girls, aged about 7 to 12, in front of a building (school?). My mother is in the photo and she wrote all of their names on the back. They are: McCARTHY, Sophia GILES, Helen ERICKSON, Jeannette GILES, Ida MAJERUS(?), Celia WILEY, Joyce (my mother) LEWERENZ, Viola GILES, Annabel CONANT, Luella McCARTHY, Geraldine GILES, Mary GILES, Emily McCARTHY, Helen WILEY, Beryl RUTTER, Gertrude RATTZ/ROTTZ, Gertrude If these names are significant to anyone, I could scan the photo and e-mail you a GIF.
