Wi Query Forum Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln?read=185 Surname: Pophal, Bartenhagen, Hahn ------------------------- Randy I just received information from another researcher that states that Mary Ann Pophal born March 10, 1892 and died the 23rd of Feb. 1936 was the daughter of Julius Pophal and Katherine Bartenhagen. This means then that Mary Ann Pophal Hahn was one of the older sisters of our Helen Marie Martha Pophal Fehr. I am writing for a booklet on the family of Henry Bartenhagen (Katherine's brother) and his family. Please refer to other messages posted here and on the Pophal,Bartenhagen and Schlictmann message boards for more information on the family of Mary Ann Pophal Hahn and other families that she is connected to. It is always nice to find another relative.

    1. [WILINCOL-L] Need an answer to a question
    2. Hi group, I need an answer to a question. Has anyone heard of a Gunderson settlement, possibly near the Harrison Hills? Also, I have put the 1870 census for the town of Jenny online. It was in 1870 in Marathon County of course, but covers the area north of Wausau and is now Lincoln County. I also have a picture I was sent of the 1913 graduating class of Tomahawk High School. I will get that online as soon as possible. Right now, I am trying to get organized for a trip to Salt Lake City for personal research! Leaving Tuesday AM at 4:30! http://www.rootsweb.com/~wilincol/ Shelley

    3. Thank you very much for the material. Gathering family history is exciting, frustrating, rewarding, overwhelming and many other things, but you certainly can come in contact with some wonderful people. We are actually from Aberdeen, Washington about 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. My g-grandfather Andrew Maschke came to the US in 1885 and ended up in Merrill. My grandmother Hulda and her sisters went to Catholic schools there. The family then moved to Astoria, Oregon, where Hulda met and married Albert Erickson. They then moved to Hoquiam, Washington. An educated guess is that Anna Maschke is his sister. Their parents name would have been Charles Maschke and Theresa Templin. It is interesting that Templins are also found in Lincoln Co. So we have Anna marrying a Rosenkranz, living in the neighborhood of some Templins when Andrew shows up. I have traced August Rosenkranz, and Andrew Maschke back to Konitz, West Prussia (now Poland) but can't find them in the parish records there. It seems that everytime I get a breakthru I also hit a stone wall. Isn't it wonderful! Thank you again, Bob Erickson

Wi Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln?read=171 Surname: HUEBNER ------------------------- Lincoln County Mark, I do not know if there is a connection with my William Huebner or not. William was born in l836. He came over in l867. I think I have found him on ship records but I'm not positive. I have found all of my other ancestor's on ship records but William escapes me. On his death certificate it says his parents were Wilhelm and Carolina. They would have born around l8l0ish. William was supposed to have had l2 brothers. Eleven came over and one went back. I haven't connected any of the brothers yet. (It ain't for lack of trying.) When I find him in the l870 census he's working at a sawmill in Wausau. They only record his name and not whether he has a family. In l873 he establishes a family farm in Maine, Wisconsin, right outside of Wausau. In the l880 census I cannot find him. I note there were over 20 Huebner families in Wisconsin in l880. In l883 he marries my great grandmother in Wausau, Marathon County. He is already 47. There is a good possibility there could have been an earlier family but I haven't found them yet. In l903 he adds my great grandmother's name to the title of the land. In l907 he sells the land and moves to Merrill. In l908 he dies. My great grandmother's maiden name was Brehmer. I have traced the Brehmers back to Norenberg, Pommerin, Prussia (Germany). There are a few Huebner families in the l83l-l874 church records. Does any of this match the details you have? Dar
