Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln/212 Surname: Gerbig, Siferd, Schmidt, Pockat, Huebner, Fritz, Dieck, Mevis, Barnick ------------------------- Hi, My connections with the Mevis family are through the Schmidt family and the Pockat family. I'm not sure if any of the family members lived in Lincoln Co., WI, but they lived fairly close. The connection that is the oldest, with the Schmidt family, is the following: Ernestina "Tina" Schmidt married August Wilhelm Frederick Mevis (Mewes / Mavis) on 10 March 1881, Moravian Church, Milford, Jefferson Co., WI. She died on 7 Aug 1940 in Marion, Waupaca Co., WI. One of Tina's sisters, Augusta, was my great grandmother. She married Theodore Gerbig on 8 Jan 1883, also in Milford, Jefferson Co., WI. Are any of these locations or names familiar to you? Marie

Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln/210 Surname: Gerbig, Schmidt, Pockat, Dieck, Fritz, Huebner, Schultz ------------------------- Please accept my apologies for not responding earlier. Can you provide me with more details regarding the Gerbigs who were living with the Fehr family? What was the exact location and time period? What were their names? When were they born? Who else was living in the Fehr household at the same time? Also, do you have any photos of the Gerbigs? There is a growing # of people who are exchanging old photos and figuring out names of previously unidentified Gerbig family members. Fran Montabon, of Lincoln Co., WI, may be able to assist you, since he has Gerbig ancestors in that area. So far, we have not been able to connect his branch with my branch, but we're working on it! Please note: I have sent a similar reply to you directly via email. Thanks. Marie
Dawn, My grandfather Leslie Ryan was born in Merrill in 1898. His mother told him that there was a fire and the records had been all destroyed. Then I learned from other listers that there was no fire. When Ancestry.com posted the Wisconsin birth records I did a search using no first names (just Ryan, the birt year and linc for the county) and found that out of the seven children only two births were registered. Some had died within hours or days of birth but others lived months and years without ever being registered. The two I did find were registered as Male Ryan and Female Ryan so if the search was for a specific first name and none was recorded it could have been missed. Name: Walter O Heinrichs Birth Date: 17 Sep 1900 County: Lincoln Reel: 0112 Record: 001470 Wisconsin Vital Records Indexes, Pre-1907 Birth Index, Marriages, and Death Indes. If you write to vital records with the reel and record #s you should be able to get it. Margaret Note-this was a one shot deal to test my theory. For intellectual property rights reasons I cannot do look-up from a for fee site. >Posted on: Lincoln Co. Posted on: Lincoln Co. Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Lincoln/208 Surname: Heinrichs, Broker ------------------------- I posted my grtgmother's maiden name wrong earlier, it should be Broker not Browder. She had my grandfather in sept 1900 in merrill, Lincoln Co. I received response from vital records clerk that there is no record on file of this event in the state system. I'm told Catherine Broker Heinrichs left her Heinrichs family with a new spouse and relocated to S Dakota taking my gfather, Walter Otto Heinrichs, with her. The older siblings stayed behind. Have lots more tidbits, but nothing specific enough to put things in order. Thanks in advance for any help anyone could give.

I would like to get in contact with anyone having information on my family tree. There were other children to include I believe an Adolph, A.T., and Ray? Possibly female children too. All I have are my aunts' memories and some photos. Curiosity has set in!

I want to thank you all for all of the VERY positive responses. Many of the mail list administrators have stated it is all right to continue to post the reminders I am choosing not too. I did not solely join the county mail lists to place a weekly reminder on them. I felt I could contribute to others research not only by having a gathering place (weekly chat), but I have also answered many questions for many different researchers on the various county mail lists. I was hoping to help others. Should anyone need information on the Wisconsin Genealogy weekly chat-I have this information posted on the Waupaca County Website at the following address http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaupac/index.htm. I will will continue to post chat reminders on the Waupaca County mail list, WauShaOcon Mail List and Wisconsin Mail List. Hope you all break through those brick walls and find those lost ancestors-have a great week! I guess I didn't feel once a week email would unset anyone and that it would let the new people to the lists know of the weekly genealogy chat. So this will be the last notice of the weekly chats. I have repeated the instructions below and feel if anyone is interested in the weekly chat can print this out and refer to it for information. Hope to see you there Sunday night and happy hunting! Here are step by step instructions- 1-Go to the site http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2-Click on Log on to chat in the upper left area of the screen. This takes you to another screen. 3-At this screen type in your name or a name you are going to use in the chat room in the space next to Nick name. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SPACES. Once you have typed in your name, click on OK, connect in the lower left. 4-You are in the chat room. Type your message in the lower left space where it says Type here and then hit enter. A few helpful hints. There is a list on the right side of the screen of all the people who are in the room. To enlarge the screen for easier reading click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the font, also for easier reading, in the space where you type your message type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the font size.
