It appears that they lived in Lincoln County from at least 1911-1930. John Raudwer was born in 1911 in Irma and his brother William was born in 1921 to John and Anna Marie (Lampi) Raudwer. Anna was my great grandmother's half sister (Hilija Johnson Keturi) and she seems to have visited various members of the family in Upper Michigan quite frequently. I have not been able to locate the Raudwer family in either the 1920 or 1930 census records. The information I do have is based on obituaries and the SSDI. I also have not been able to find any records of John and Anna Raudwer's death. I appreciate any help and guidance. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. George Henry was my Grandfather. He frequently visited his siblings that lived in the Tomahawk, WI area and I knew some of them when I was a child. My father, who is living, would have known many of them. It's been a while since I've researched and I must dig up my old notes,records,etc..but by memory I can tell you that Theodore was young when he passed on but the others you have listed lived into adulthood. There was a small child by the name of Mary who died. I do have federal census records(somewhere)that will date some of this for you if you're interested. I'm so suprized to see the name of Jacob's parents of which until reading this thread I've never known. Interesting!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Bertha Kankelfitz Barnekow was a sister to Carl Kankelfitz. Carl Friederich Ferdinand Kankelfitz was my husband's great-great grandfather. My mother-in-law is a Kankelfitz. If it is any consolation, she had no idea that her great-grandfather had a sister or 5 half-brothers/sisters, until I started my research many years ago. She always thought Carl F F was an only child! Contact me direct at khellrood@wi.rr.com. I have a lot of information on the Kankelfitz side. Not so much on the Greil or Hartwig side. I do not have specific birth locations, other than Germany (Joseph) and Bavaria (for Mary). I have not found any death dates or other information for them yet. Bertha's parents were Julius Ludwig Frederick Barnekow (also found under Barnikow and Barniko) and Bertha Maria Elsie Louisa Kankelfitz. Julis was born 9 November, 1851 in or near Stolpe, Pommern to Carl and Caroline Barnkeow. He married Bertha 10 March, 1878 in Ixonia, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. They lived in Milwaukee until at least April, 1882. By June, 1885 they were living in the Town of Hamburg, Marathon County, Wisconsin. He deserted Bertha and his six children. Bertha remarried by 1889. Family stories say that he was a bigamist. He supposedly remarried without benefit of divorce. I have not been able to verify that. He was also supposed to be a Great Lakes sailor --- I have not been able to verify that either. I can find nothing on him after June of 1885. Bertha was the daughter of Carl Friedrich and Caroline(a) Louise Dorothea Sophie Giese. She was born in Naugard Moegenhagen, Pommerania/Prussia 5 June, 1858. She had a brother and five half brothers/sisters. Her father, Carl, was born 9 August, 1827 in Lenz, Pommern/Prussia and died in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, Wisconsin, 7 July, 1909. Her mother, Caroline, was born 4 March, 1821 in Germany and died 6 September, 1907 in the town of Hamburg, Marathon County, Wisconsin. Both are buried in St. Peter's Cemetery, Town of Hamburg. In addition to the six children Bertha and Julius had, Bertha had seven more children with her second husband, Carl Theodore Hartwig. Would you be able to fill me in more on the Greil family. I know that Philipp married Alice Draeger and that they had at least two children, Eleanor and Richard. Philipp also had 11 siblings. I have some names and dates, but nothing in the present.
