We are told that his great-great grandmother ADELE was a dutchess from Riga, Russia. She married a commoner named Woldemar Toffry. (Toffry was his "American" name) We are not sure about her lineage or the correct last name before it was changed to Toffry. Adele was born in 1881 (estimated) Woldemar was a brewmaster and born 15 March 1873. They had 2 sons that died from disease while still in Russia. Anyone know where I can begin looking? I cant find ANY information online without knowing Adele's family name or lineage. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Sweden abt 1850's died in WI 1942 and Carrie Anderson, which might be a married name instead of a maiden name, she was born in Denmark abt 1860's, died in WI 1935. I am having trouble locating their parents and I want to make sure I have the right people. Charles can be found in Menominee MI in 1882 marrying Carrie Anderson there. From then on to 1930 I can trace them as husband and wife along with their children in both Michigan and Wisconsin. She is listed on the m as being 16, and he is listed as being 25 year old then. Please help find correct parents to these people. Thank you. I do have them in my tree that I have had help with and their families, but I was told today by a person in Iowa that they don't match Carrie to the parents I have for her in Iowa's Danish registry there in Iowa. Author: dvanert12 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.lincoln/1266.3.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Pattie, Check out these two links: http://wvls.lib.wi.us/merrillpl/Genealogy_page.htm#CONTACTS http://wvls.lib.wi.us/merrillpl/Genealogy_page.htm One is for the Merrill Library which is called the T.B.Scott Free Library and the other for the local genealogy group. The library has a wonderful genealogy room if you can ever visit it. I don't get to Merrill often but the library has newspapers back into the 1800s on film. If anyone had a written obituary they have them listed and they can easily let you know if there would be a newspaper obituary. With their directory you'd know which paper, date and page to go to look and print it. I have used them in the past and obituaries tell so much. It would most likely be next winter before I'd have time to go there again. If you can not find someone from the genealogy group or library to help you I surely can do it later this year. Unfortunately I don't live near Merrill anymore so my time there is limited. I have a CD that I got the the North Pines Genealogy Group. Between 1998 and 2006 they listed everyone in all the cemeteries of Lincoln County that has a monument. You can then tell which cemetery they are in. The key is that they needed to have a monument to be listed. my CD drive didn't want to open the CD today. I'm not sure what happened to it. You can also purchase a CD from the group for $30 or $35. The Merrill Memorial Cemetery if you call them have everyone listed on their computer if you call them. They can look the name up and tell you exactly where they are buried. Of course there are many more cemeteries in Lincoln County. The beauty of the CD is that you don't need to know which cemetery someone is in to find them. Good luck and let me know if I can help later this year at the library. Don Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I also searched Google for William and found links to his work etc. July 17th is our 50th high school class reunion in Merrill. I'm not sure if he's planning to attend or not. He has not kept close ties with anyone from the class but did attend the 25th reunion. I would also recommend the obituaries in the Merrill Library. They are so useful. Through them I was able to locate my great grandmother. The obituaries go well into the 1800s to the present. I'm not sure where you are located or if you are able to get to Merrill. If you have a few names and approximate dates etc. I could look for them for you the next time I'm at the library. I did that for a guy in MI working on a branch of my tree. I made copies of obits and mailed them to him. I also have a CD of all the cemeteries in Lincoln County. They have recorded the information for anyone having a memorial. If they don't have a memorial they aren't on the disk. Don Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
