Just in case any subscribers to the Lists which I manage are users of Hotmail, I thought I should explain why your email sent on Dec. 3 did not get posted to the Mailing Lists. Apparently, Microsoft re-jiggled some settings on their server software and really screwed up the works. From about 10:00 AM on Thursday, Dec. 3rd, until sometime that same evening, Hotmail was sending 6 or 7 emails for every one that a Hotmail user sent. What this meant was that if you are a Hotmail user and sent an email during this time period, MS was sending 6-7 identical copies to the RootsWeb server. I don't think I have to tell you what this did to the server and how it screwed things up. Any way, RootsWeb temporarily instituted a "reject" for ANY email coming from Hotmail users as soon as they were aware of the problem. Even with acting as quickly as they did, the RootsWeb mail server crashed twice during the night of Thursday-Friday, trying to handle the email that was already in the pipeline.
