    3. What I was trying to say that Marge Wilhite believed that James who married Peggy Baker was the son of Adam and that James who married Comfort Stansbury was not. She sent me a page out of one of the issues of the Connextions where she states the case ( I don't have the volume and issue or date ). Here husband line is though this other James and she states that he married twice, Peggy Baker and Susan Cates. To quote: "Our James is not to be confused with the James Wihite listed in The Germanna Record #13 dated October 1971, born in 1791 (the son of Adam, Conrad, Tobias, Michael), who married 22 Dec. 1813, Knox County, Tennessee, Comfort Stansbury (daughter of Luke Stansbury and Nancy Haddox); and whose children were James, John, Hanna, William, Mary, Nancy, and Margaret. This Wilhite-Stansbury family is more frequently associated with the records of Knox County, Tennessee. "Our mounting evidence indicates that The Germanna Record #13 is in error recording the James who married Comfort Stansbury as the son of Adam; but rathere, that our James whose wifes were Peggy baker and Susan Cates, is more likely to be the son of Adam; and tht this James had a brother John, and several sisters. The members of this family are found in the records of Jefferson County." It appears to be these various Jefferson County records that she is basing her conclusion on. There is some question raised in A. L. Keiths papers also. A portion of which I quote below concerning Simeon Wilhite. "Simeon Wilhite (son of Conrad Wilhite and wife Elizabeth Broyles) is placed here despite the fact that the claim is made that he was grandson of Conrad and not the son. One James Wilhite, said to have been born about 1760, married Sophia Stansbury about 1780, is introduced as the father of Simeon and the son of Conrad. No contemporary record of such a James Wilhite has been produced. this James is said to have had also a daughter Sarah Wilhite, born 1785, and a son James N. Wilhite, born 1791 in North Carolina, married Comfort Stansbury in Knox Co., Tenn. Dec. 22 1813. (Comfort Stansbury is said to have been a sister of the Soloman Stansbury who married Sarah Wilhoit, daughter of Solomon Wilhite. If Simeon Wilhite had a sister Sarah and a brother James N., they would have to be added to the children of Conrad Wilhite but we would certainly have to assume a second wife for him for which we have no contemporary record. If Simeon was th son of Conrad and if he did not have a sister Sarah and a brother James N. Wilhite, then we have the difficulty of accounting for Sarah and James N., who seem to have been closely connected with the other Wilhites of east Tennessee." So this now puts forth the possiblity that James who married Comfort Stansbury was a son of Conrad by a second wife, none of which we have any proof of. If only the will of Conrad could be found, it might clear up some of these questions. In either case, I fell that there were definately two James Wilhites, one married Peggy Baker and Susan Cates, and the other married Comfort Stansbury. I have no indication anywhere that James who married Comfort had any other wifes. He would have been around age 22 when he married Comfort and they were still together when he died in 1854. Hope this clears the earlier confusion up, but probably adds more. Paul At 09:47 PM 12/8/1998 -0500, you wrote: >At 07:52 PM 12/8/98 , Paul E.
