Bob - I'm sorry I have no proof that Joel and John were brothers, other than it being written in Leona and Earl Willhoite's book on John Willhoite (1745-1837)in the FOREWORD where it states in Paragraph 5, second sentence "Though John and Lucy used the spelling Willheit, some of their sons, as well as many of John's brother Joel's numerous descendants who lived in Owen County, KY also, adopted the "Willhoite" spelling as used on the tombstones of John and Lucy". I know about the argument that these could be sons of Tobias instead of Matthais and I have no proof either. Just questioning, if anyone out there has anything on Joel and his family.
