It's nice to see some BROYLES traffic here on the List for a change. I've been watching the latest posts and remarked about how you BROYLES users are spread out all over the country, all from ONE immigrant in 1717. Quite a prolific bunch. Thought I would mention again a previous offer of putting Germanna- related genealogy files on the BROYLES/BRILES Family History web site. If there are any out there who wishes to have me convert a GEDCOM, provided by you, to HTML and uploaded to the web site, let me know. I have received quite a few and am just now getting to working on them; however, some of them don't convert properly to HTML, having bad code and so forth in the GEDCOM files. Make sure that you DO have your genealogy program and datafiles in order before exporting a GEDCOM to send to anyone. Nothing is more frustrating than to receive one that has important data and not be able to import it all because of problems. One of the biggest problems being programs that export in formats that are not GEDCOM compliant universally. And if you use FTM be sure you export in a usable format, not one of those that is proprietal to FTM users. Also, it is a good idea to mark certain names, dates, places, events, etc. as being sensitive. A lot of living people have problems with their names and data being placed on a web site for the world to see. I use Cumberland Family Tree (CFT) and it allows me to mark these data items as sensitive so they don't get placed into the GEDCOM. It's something to be concerned with. Anyway, if anyone has "good" GEDCOM files (GRIN), let me know via personal email. Please do not reply back here to the List. Thanks, SgtGeorge Listowner
