Just curious, not >that it makes any difference. **********END OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE TEXT********** I couldn't find a direct conversion chart for the1700's, but using some money conversion and equivalency charts on the web, in 1791, 1 British Pound was worth $4.55. So, in 1791, 1 British Shilling was worth about $.23, and 1 Pence was worth about $.02. In today's money, the 1791 Pound would be worth $85.86; 1 Shilling would be worth $4.46, in today's money; and 1 Pence would be worth about $.37, in today's money. Thus, if I have calculated correctly, 7½ Pence was worth $2.79 in 1791, and $52.65 in 2000. SgtGeorge
