I'm trying to make the link between my grandfather Julius C. Wilhite and Julius Alexander Wilhite, both of Pine Ridge Arkansas. Julius Alexander Wilhite was murdered in 1863 near his home in Pine Ridge. His wife Polly was a Fryar, but was supposedly full-blooded Cherokee. One website suggested she was adopted by the Fryar family. I noted in some old photos on-line that she did indeed look indian and resembled some old photos I had once seen of my grandfather Julius C. Wilhite. Also, I recall meeting "uncles" who were dark-complected. Many had names like Bill, Jules, Dudley, King... all that... the names which seem endlessly recycled among us. Have any of you assembled a complete tree of all the descendants of Julius Alexander Wilhite? Also, have any of you any information to share about those early days of the Wilhite family in Arkansas and the death of Julius Alexander Wilhite, especially regarding how his wife Polly and her children were able to cope?
