    1. [WILHITE] Looking for Historical Info on Women of the Germanna Colonies
    2. George W. Durman
    3. Today I received the following from a student at Louisiana Tech. He is looking for information on the women of the Germanna Colonies. If any of you can help him, please reply to him at his personal email address at the bottom of his email. I feel it is important to try to help out people like this, since it helps to "spread the word" about Germanna. I don't know exactly what type of information Jon is looking for, but if you think you might be able to help, how about emailing him and asking what he specifically needs? Thanks a bunch, SgtGeorge George W. Durman ===============(Beginning of Redirected Email)=============== Sir or madam, I have been wading through the Germanna History Notes information with interest, particularly regarding the Second Germanna Colony. I am involved in a class at Louisiana Tech pertaining to the women of the colonial south, and I would like to pursue a paper explicitly about the women of the Germanna Colonies. Since I have ancestors in the Broyles, Blankenbaker, Utz, Yeager, and Fleischman families, I am particularly interested in these families. Since the class is relatively short lived, I am likely to have but one opportunity to get to someplace to look through primary sources from\about the ladies of these families, and I would appreciate any information that you could provide about the availability of such documents. Thanks for the help, and thank you very much for all the work involved in providing the Germanna History Notes. Best Regards, Jon Fitch JON FITCH <-fitch-@usa.net> =================(End of Redirected Email)=================

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HWWBAEB/238 Message Board Post: Please disregard the previous information about my grandfather. I didn't quite have my facts straight. It appears that the 3 brothers mentioned: George, Walker and Andrew may have been brothers to my Ggrandfather. My Grandfather's name was Oscar Elmer Wilhite, aka "Buss", NOT Oscar Sherman, as previously stated. Please be patient with me as I work this all out. I really want to learn more and will probably make more mistakes as the discovery process takes me in the right direction. The names were a little messed up, but the locations of Oklahoma and Texas appear to be correct, thus far. MORE TO COME, and I'LL BE NEEDING HELP -- thank you all for being so kind.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HWWBAEB/107.111.1 Message Board Post: Just wondering if Dr. George Wilhite could be my great uncle? My grandfather, Oscar Sherman Wilhite, had 3 brothers: Walker and George were last known to be in Oklahoma; Andrew and Oscar (my gfather) stayed in Arkansas. We are having a Wilhite Family Reunion May 26, 2002. My Uncle (James Wilhite) will be there. He is in his mid-80's but is still very sharp and very knowledgable about this line of the Wilhite family, but doesn't know what happened to Walker and George Wilhite after they got to Oklahoma. He is very loving and eager to share what he knows. I look forward to sitting down and talking with him. I'm glad to share my findings with anyone who is interested, so I'll let you know more later. Thank you for any information you can share with me.

    3. I just added a link to the FLESHMAN Reunion on the Reunion web page for out web site: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~george/reunionpage.html This looks like it is another Reunion that could well attract descendants of many of the Germanna families. Many (most?) of us Germanna descendants can trace back to a FLESHMAN/ FLEISCHMANN somewhere. Just quickly scanning through my main genealogy database, I can count over 2 dozen Germanna surnames where at least one branch/line has a FLESHMAN/ FLEISCHMANN ancestor. I'm sure there are many more. For all the other Reunions, I made a special web page for them; for this one, I just linked to the web site that has already been made for the Reunion. Don't forget, FLESHMAN/FLEISCHMAN Family Reunion August 3 & 4, 2002 Lewisburg, WV ALLIED FAMILIES ARE WELCOME & ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND !!!!! And, John Blankenbaker will be the Guest Speaker!!!!! (Wish Rootsweb/Ancestry would allow us to use HTML/ Fancy Text for emails. The above line would stand out like a theater marquee.) Regards, SgtGeorge George W. Durman

    1. [WILHITE] CLAIBORNE WILLHITE (1802-1861), of Tennessee
    2. William Hickox
    3. Some time ago I posted a transcript of the family record of Claiborne Willhite (1802-1861) and his wife, Susanna (Phillips) Willhite (1806-1851). I did so in the hope that this excellent source would bring to light the many errors that have been made regarding this family group and which have been perpetuated again and again over the years. As I still find some researchers recycling the old, inaccurate information, I once again wish to post the transcript of the Claiborne Willhite family record. I hope that anyone researching this family will take note of the information it contains and accurately reflect it in their own records, ridding themselves of old, inaccurate information. It is important to note that this is the earliest record of this family group and that it is undoubtedly the most accurate. Claiborne WILLHITE (1802-1861) and his wife had a New Testament in which they recorded the names of their children and other information. Although the New Testament is now lost, the information it contained has been preserved.
