    2. Hi, I'm not sure I am going about this the correct way, but will give it a try. I have a John Wilhoit/Wilhite born abt 1745 died 1837 in Owen Co. Ky. this John was in the Rev War:, Virginia troops. He was the son of Matthias and Mary Ballenger Wilhoit/Wilhite, he married Lucy Stapp (b. abt. 1742) abt. 1762 in Orange Co. Va. I don't have any of their children. I don't have documentation of this info as it was given to me by other researchers, but maybe it would be a starting place. My line is Elias Wilhoit/Wilhite son of Matthias and Mary Ballenger Wilhoit. Caralyn

    3. Lorene, I got both messages. I hope you have a wonderful trip. It sounds like our husbands are alike about travel. I enjoy it more than my husband also. We will be going to Tulsa Monday to be with our daughter during surgery, and to help keep her household going for a few days. We will come home for several days and then leave for eastern Tennessee for the Broyles/Germanna reunion. We plan to stop in Humphreys and White Counties for some research on the way. We live in Texarkana on the Arkansas/Texas border, so it will be a long drive. But I am excited about it. By the way, I found John Wilhite in the 1870 census, living with son "Halliard" (Halyard). I also found the William Cloyd family in the 1870 White County census with children Joseph, Solomon, William, David, Rheuben, and Owen. I agree that we should stay in touch. Sandra

This is what I do have: John Ryan penn married Millicent Swetnam 9/10/1870 when she was 20 years old, and he was 51. My great grandmother, Mary Jane Penn, was born to the couple 9 months later in June of 1871. The last record I have of John Ryan Penn is the 1880 Henry County census, household #60 in Pleasureville, living with Elizabeth and Joseph Thurman. His sister, Margaret Penn Henderson lived next door, and his brother Charles and his wife Martha lived in HH #63. John Ryan and Millicent divorced and she remarried James Locke. She is listed in the 1930 Grayson Carter Co. KY census with her husband, James Locke.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HWWBAEB/27.32.34.37.1.4 Message Board Post: Reuben and Mary Yager Wilhite had another grandson named William Wilhite who lived in White County, Tennessee, and his family has been attached to his cousin William Cloyd Wilhite. William M. Wilhite was the son of Reuben’s son John. William M. married Jane Bennett 7/31/1844, then Mary McGibboney before 1850. In the 1850 White County census, William and Mary are listed with William’s son James E., age 5. In the 1860 White County census, William and Mary are shown with James E. 15, Elisabeth J. 9, Barcelona 8, Martha C. 7, John D. 5, and William D. 3. By 1870 this family was in Humphreys County, Tennessee, and included younger children Eppenitus and Travis P. In about 1889 William D. Willhite, my husband’s great grandfather, left Humphreys County with his two young daughters and settled in Indian Territory. All of the Reubens and Williams are confusing, but I think I have finally sorted out the census records for White County Wilhite families, and believe this information to be correct.
