Charley, I apoligize for the confusion. I only found the William Willcocks connection in early January of this year - Mary Wilcox had been the problem (name spelling) and I made the connection through Phoebe's relinquishment of dower rights to James Rhodes, "legitimate heir" of William. I have the Rhodes line all the way back to Abraham Rhodes in Prince George Co, MD. After I made the connection, I received info from another researcher indicating William's marriage date was 13 June 1791, that's where I got that, then, after our Feb correspondence, I received the transcripts that were in yesterdays letter. Last month, at the Miami-Dade Library, I found a book of Kentucky marriages that gives the same data for Mary's marriage as was in Hattie's info, except the date was 13 June 1791 not 1792. At this point then, the date I was given for William's marriage was actually for Mary and James. I agree with your summation at this point and expand on it as follows: William Willcocks b. 1744 (per deposition 1799-55 years) d. 1802 per probate of will. Probably born in VA if he is same William in Keleher DAR papers (Mrs. Jessie Keleher, 1919, National #168506). I have not seen the DAR papers yet. Phoebe/Pheby/Phoby Ashcraft b.? d. after 1804 (relinquishment of Dower rights. I have no idea where Phoebe came from, but I notice that William may have been in Nelson Co, VA as well as Nelson Co, KY. And another researcher has sent me info on a will in Surry Co, NC, where William is listed as an executor. I would assume that William & Phoebe were married in VA somewhere prior to 1770, assuming there were no other wives and all children are Phoebe's. Children: William Jr. b. about 1771 married Mary Rickmore 25 Feb 1802-21=1771. I note that a William Willcox was indicted by a grand jury in Nelson Co. for living with Rachael Wiseman in 1808, but Mary is later sued as his widow. Ezra b. about 1773 married Sarah Friend 19 Mar 1974-21=1773. My question here is that in Hattie's notes an Ezra Wilcox served in the revolutionary war and would be of an age to be a sibling of William - is there a connection there? Mary b. about 1775 married James Rhodes, son of Abraham Rhodes and Mary Priscilla Gough, 13 Jun 1791-16=1775. Two known children John b.? and Ann Matilda Rhodes b. 1810. Ann married Jacob Richard Thralls b. 1799 in 1830. Lydia b.? married Samuel Barnes before 1801 Rachael b.? married Elijah Barnes before 1801 Loucy b.? listed as a proper heir of William in Phoebe's 1804 relinquishment of dower rights in William's estate. Zerah/Zera b. about 1791, apprenticed 14 Feb 1803-12=1791. Anyway, this is where I'm at. I would really like to find William's birthplace and parents. Taking a shot, I am copying this to the list. Let me know if you can surmise anything else, or find holes in my thinking. Bill Thralls PS. I'll be in the Keys all weekend, so I won't see any responses after 4:00 today until Monday - Have a great weekend
