Page 105 THE WILCOXSON -- BOONE FAMILY OF PENNSYLVANIA, NORTH CAROLINA AND KENTUCKY The genealogy of the Boone family mentions several intermarriages between Boones and Wilcoxsons and lists many individuals of the Wilcoxson and Wilcox name. The first reference to interest us in the Boone book concerns a certain John Wilcoxson who married, in 1742 at Exeter twp., Berks County, Pa., Sarah Boone, a sister of the famous DANIEL BOONE. (she was b in 1724 and presumably he husband was born about the same time) The Boons were quakers and it is related that they were severely censured for allowing Sarah to marry an "outsider". As a result of this unpleasantness, perhaps, it is recorded that John and Sarah removed first to Rowan county, North Carolina and later to Shelby county, Kentucky. The Boone book mentions one of John and Sarah's sons, i.e. Daniel Wilcoxson, b 3/13/1755 in Rowan county, N.C. d in 1837in Shelby county, Ky. Married _____Faulkner and became the father of 12 children. He served as a Lieutenant with the Virginia forces during the revolution. The Boone book also mentions a William Wilcoxson (probably a son or nephew of John, who married 7/30/1777, Rachel Boone, at Exeter Twp. Berks county, Pa. (She was probaly a cousin or niece of Sarah, above) It is mentioned in the book that she also was censured for marrying out and that in 1790 William and his wife also removed to Rowen county, N.C. where his near relative was already living. The bbok is silent on the matter of William and Rachel's children but follows the descendants of Daniel Wilcoxson through several generations in Shelby county, Ky. and Boone County, Missouri. From the similarity of names and other considerations we are convinced that the John and William Wilcoxson who married Sarah and Rachel Boone were members of our Stratford Wilcoxson family (probably scions of the elder John Wilcoxson line) although at present we are unable to positively identify them. Correspondence to solicited from any person who has any information to contribute on this subject. It is possible that research in the early land records of Berks county, Pennsylvania would yield information of value. --- I hope this helps.
