Hi Gail, I have done a book on the COULTERS of Winston Co Ms. I am not for sure but almost that Mary and Lorine and James Wilcox were children of Moses and Desire Walton Wilcox of Franklin and Elbert cos Ga. Another sister was Clarissa Wilcox who md Absolum Denman.. Moses must have died because Desire came to Monroe Co Ms by 1820 with daughter, Clarissa and Absolum. They were listed on 1820 census there. James was witness to Absolum Denman's will. who died in 1821. Lorena was md to John Coulters bro Edward Coulter. She was not a dau of John and Mary. Edward died on the way home from 2nd Seminole War in 1843 and Lorena md a Ferrell. William W died in Civil War. I am pretty sure that Henry and Thomas were Blacks. We were told they were not slaves but free blacks. James Wilcox md Elizabeth Reynolds and moved to Winston Co early 1830s.along with John and Edward and families. He also moved to Ashley co Arkansas about 1868-9 with other Coulters after the Civil War. My husband descends from Edward Dixon Coulter, son of John. Edward Coulter, bro of John and Lorena had James Elbert Mary Elizabeth Caroline Sophronia--Kitty William Fearman Nancy Hepsibah--died age 13 All John's children are mentioned in the deed of conveyence except Jeffersonia and husband John Shumaker, who were dead by then but their children are mentioned instead. I hope you can help research Moses and Desire. He was J P in Franklin Co Ga early 1800s and was listed as citizen of Elbert Co Ga. Was on tax rolls till 1818. I have his ancestry back to Ct to William Wilcoxsen who came from England. But Desire is a blank except for the one instance that shows Moses md a Desire Walton. From what family are you connected? I have quite a bit on all these Coulters, except the blacks. I hope this helps and let me know if I can help further....Mary >Hello my name is Gail Harms and I am new to the mailing list.I am >looking for information on Mary Wilcox born July 4,1802 Georgia died on >Oct 3,1888 Winston Mississippi.
