There is also an Elisha Wilcox who appears in the 1840 Census of Peoria County, Illinois. Have not been able to attach this Wilcox to my Peoria County Wilcox family which starts with Calvin Wilcox son of Nathan Wilcox of Rensselaer County, New York. Calvin was born in 1837 and married Emaline Larabee of Pownal, Vermont. Nathan Wilcox was married to Mercy Ann Babcock. I am uncertain of the Larabee family but the Babcocks and Wilcox family were 7th Day Baptists. Nathan was born in 1799 in Stonington, Connecticut. Going back from there is tricky but it is believed that Nathan is a 4th generation Nathan Wilcox. In Peoria County there is a Wilcox family who basically started all the schools in Peoria County. These Wilcoxes arrived prior to my Wilcox family. Also I found a Theron Wilcox who never appears in any census, but purchased land from land grants west of the Illinois River. This was also in Peoria County. Theron and Elisha may be connected, I do not know. Maybe somebody can help me. Scott Hendricks
