    3. Dave, It's just a stab in the dark but your g-g-grandfather didn't happen to list Berlin, WI or Green Lake County as his hometown? My g-g-grandfather, William Wilcox, served in a Wisconsin regiment and his family came from New York, though where exactly remains a mystery. Just thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks, Earl Rook > Subject: Re: [WILCOX] Civil War records > Date: Wed, 3 Jan 2001 18:46:43 -0500 > From: "Dave Mosbruger" <dmosbruger@worldlynx.net> > To: WILCOX-L@rootsweb.com > > I lost track of the start of this string, but you may need to look beyond > state records for those serving in the Civil War. 3. Pat Kennedy here: Berlin, Wi or Green lake County are just to close to my family....to not send a note to you. My Melisa (Durland) Wilcox 1830 PA-1917 WI......moved to the Berlin area, with her little son, Charles B. Wilcox 1856 Pa-1887 OR....from Luzerne Co, PA.....she was a young widow.....and later md: John Morse, Green Lake, WI. It was to be close to her Durland/Dorland and McConnell families (my understanding.) These were early Orange Co, N.Y.....families. Her husband: Richard B. Wilcox 1800 - 1841/44 brothers & sisters: Oliver Lewis - Mary Jane - Levi - Eunice - Margarett - Gates Smith - Lucinda - Samuel Garrett - Mahala Elizabeth - Daniel WILCOX. (most likely all born Orange Co, N.Y.) So there could be a connection to this family.
