I also need some help with a Michigan Wilcox line. I'm helping a friend research the ancestors of Glenn McArthur Wilcox born 1920 in Grayling, Michigan. He lived in Elkton, Virginia in at the time of his death in 1978 and had brothers Alfred and Jerome Wilcox living in the Saginaw area and a sister Doris living in Columbus, Ohio. His parents were not listed. The Social Security Death Index lists a Glenn Wilcox, born 1895, died 1966 who lived in Hazel Park, Michigan. I don't know if this Glenn is the father of Glenn McArthur Wilcox, but would like to make contact with anyone who might be familiar with this family. Thanks for any help you might be able to give. Hello Listers, since we are talking about Michigan Wilcox's I felt I should include my Jackson County, Michigan Wilcox's as well. Zeri Wilcox b 25 April 1820 in New York md 1st wife July 1844 Phoebe Elizabeth Myrick(1829-1855)in Sandstone Jackson Co Michigan. I have the children from this marriage as well as with the second wife Tamson Harris Steffy. Zeri died 13 Feb 1885 Sandstone, Jackson Co, Michigan. Zeri's parents Ira Wilcox b ca 1778 in New York d 28 Aug 1825 Jackson Co, Michigan and mother Nancy Robinson Wilcox. I also have Ira's and Nancy's children's names as well if any one is interested. Sorry no Levi. But on a Jackson Co gazateer for the 1880's I did see a Levi Wilcox living close to my Zeri. Have no idea who he is. Maybe this will help someone. Happy hunting, Jackie in Idaho
Tammy, I doubt that we can make a connection with WILCOX other than the coincidence of Barton county, MO. My WILCOX lived in Barton county MO in the 1870 census but left there by 1880. As far as I know, my Charles WILCOX was born about 1832 in NY (county unknown) with unknown siblings or parents. He was very elusive and was probably too old to have a connection with your WILCOX. He had only one son as far as I know who was born 1873. Linda
Dave and list, A branch of our family was in Eaton County Michigan.... I do not know how close that is to Pontiac. (I am assuming Pontiac is a town--I'm geographically impaired!). Hi, I'm wondering if there might be a BARNABUS WILLCOX connected to this family. I do not have his birth and death dates. He was married to a CATHERINE LEROY, born 1809 in East Hawksbury, Ontario, Canada. They were probably married in 1834 in Longueil, Ontario, Canada. The obituary for their son PETER FRANCIS WILLCOX (1839-1926) states that his ancesters were United Empire Loyalists who left New York for Land Grants in Canada. Any information would be appreciated.
