    2. Charley F. Wilcox
    3. Cynthia: The birth year and state where your Mary Catherine Wilcox was born interest me - did she have any brothers ?? Where did you find your information??? I am at a dead end on William Wilcocks/Wilcox - he was born 1744 and served in the Rev. War with a Virginia Regiment and family legend/tales/stories say his wife was from southern Virginia. We do not know when or where he was married but if he was born 1744 and assuming he was 21 when married in would have been about 1761. Charley F. Wilcox

    1. [WILCOX] Mary Catherine Wilcox, born 1741 in Virginia, died 1804 in Virginia?
    2. Cynthia Daley
    3. Can anyone connect to Mary Catherine Wilcox, born 1741 in Virginia, died 1804 in Virginia? She married Abraham Bledsoe, lived in North Carolina in the area that is now Tennessee. Who were her parents and siblings? Any help at all is appreciated - she is my brick wall.

    3. Thank you Charley - Here is some further information (in case it will help!) Obediah Willcox was supposed to have owned a large plantation in Virginia (I am guessing it was on the James River at Wilcox Landing since that is where my Great Grandfather was born). He was married to Anna Eliza Webb. Anna died at age 58 leaving 5 children, including my Great Grandfather - Franklin James Wilcox. Franklin was born about 1832 at Wilcox's Landing (on the James River, between Lynchburg and Richmond). He left at age 21 to go to out west (Minnesota). Franklin was about 6'4" and weighed about 240 pounds. As stated previously, Obediah was a descendant of a Rev. John Willcox from Connecticut. Rev. John Willcox's children went to Westerly R.I., Virginia (Wilcox Landing), Pennsylvania and New York State. A statue of Rev. John Willcox is supposed to be in a square in Hartford, Conn (NOT CONFIRMED) Franklin changed the name to one "L" Wilcox from the two "LLs" Willcox. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer in this line. Margi (Wilcox) Shindell Shindell@bellsouth.net Atlanta, GA "Charley F. 3. Last time I saw Lyn Burge's email address was in December of last year. At that time, it was LynBurge@aol.com. Indeed, she is an excellent source for Wilcox information in upstate New York. 1. [WILCOX] Obediah Willcox or Rev. John Willcox
    2. Margi Shindell
    3. Hello All - Does anyone have any information about an Obediah Willcox - who was supposed to own a plantation in Virginia (On the James River, between Lynchburg and Richmond) at Wilcox Landing during the 19th century. He had an ancestor - Rev. John Willcox whose children went to Westerly R.I., Virginia (Wilcox Landing), Pennsylvania and New York State. Obediah came from the Virginia branch. A statue of Rev. John Willcox is supposed to be in a square in Hartford, Conn The Wilcox family originated in a place called Lancastshire, England, as far back as the early 13 hundreds, the originator's name was Coan, and was connected in some way in the Kings household, well in some way the name came to be spelled from William Coan to William Coax, then, Cocks, then he was called Will Cox, then the name ws connected as Willcox, which was the way my Great Great Grandfather spelled his name. My Great Grandfather, took off one "L" and spelled as it is today - Wilcox Thank you, Margi (Wilcox) Shindell

    3. Robert, I have seen a Theron from Essex county also. Is this any connection. I have seen an Elisha and William in Peoria (1840) and have seen that a Theron Wilcox recieved a land grant somewhere around Peoria. Are these your Wilcoxes? As far as Elisha Wilcox and back, I can only remember that Lynn Burge has an extensive list of Wilcoxes, if you can find out how to get to her website, you may want to check it out. I have not visited the site in a year and do not remember where I found it.
