Dear Listmembers: Thanks for the warm welcome. As of this PM, there are 195 mail mode and 67 digest mode subscribers for a total of 262. This list of which I've been a member for some time, becomes active at spurts. My style of management of the list is to let folks talk until the cows come home as long as one stays on topic, ie info regarding the surname. If folks get carried away with abusive language towards other members, I will step in. I will also add that of the several lists I host, I've only had to step in twice in the past 4 years. One case was abusive language and one was way way off topic. I doubt that this will be an issue here, yet I feel you need to know my stance on such. I'll give a short bio shortly. For now though at nearly 3 AM once again...it's time for bed as I have to be at work by 8 AM. Details to follow! Tim
Congrats! The Madison County list you administer is one of the best. Have a ball Craig. We are in good hands. Sharon

However, I do enjoy assisting others with their research through whatever I can contribute online by putting data online or answering questions, or giving ideas to assist others. My Wilcox line starts and ends - all 2 generations that I know of in central New York State. Tim
Welcome Tim :), I'd love to see your ancestry line. Junie Joy
And thank you, Craig, for all your hard work and patience. It has been, and will continue to be, greatly appreciated. I wish you much happiness and success in your retirement....and your continued pursuit of your family. Tim, welcome aboard. Thanks for adopting us! We'll try to behave. *lol* Leslie Great River, NY
"Hello again Cousins!" As I have now retired and am now looking at being able to "hit the road" in search of family to my heart's content, which has been a dream of mine for more than twenty years now, I will no longer be able to continue in my capacity as List Adm for the WILCOX Family Mail List. I will very shortly be passing the administrative responsibilities for our WILCOX Family Mail List over to "WILCOX Family Cousin," Tim STOWELL <tstowell@chattanooga.net> Please do welcome him as our new List Adm for the WILCOX Family Mail List. Thank you, each and every one, for your patience, cooperation, and participation in the WILCOX Family Mail List for which I have now served as List Adm for, since late 1997, now well over two-and-one- half years ago. Thank you so very much for your continued patience, cooperation, and active participation in the WILCOX Family Mail List! TTYL Craig List Adm for WILCOX-L and WILCOX-D "Always looking for Cousins!"

"Hello again Cousins!" Still here! Have officially completed my last day of employment this past Thursday, took a short jaunt to Colorado. The problem last week occurred as a result of an interuption through my local ISP. Have made a committment to turn the WILCOX Family Mail List over shortly to an new List Adm as my plans for later this fall will not allow me to function satisfactorily as a List Adm. TTYL Craig So far as I am aware, still the current List Adm for WILCOX-L and WILCOX-D At 06:29 PM 8/9/00 EDT, you wrote: > A few months ago Craig announced he was retiring and the list was up for >adoption. Sharon, The other day when the temporary ListAdmin at Rootsweb wrote that the list was available, I went to find out about it as I'd corresponded several times with Craig about the list. I was told a couple of days ago, or later that night that the list had already been claimed by someone. Who I'm not sure. Would the listowner please identify yourself? A few months ago Craig announced he was retiring and the list was up for adoption. I thought retirement gave us time for our hobbies. I don't know if there is a list administrator or not. Sharon

Hello WILCOX researchers, I am interested in exchanging info with anyone that can assist me in determining who the father of my 2n great grandfather Thomas Jefferson WILCOX was. We think Thomas J. WILCOX was born abt. 1830 in Danube, Herkimer Co., NY.(grandfather would have been either Nathan or Isaiah WILCOX who migrated there from Rhode Island in 1791) He is found in the 1840 US. census in Port Allagheny, PA., and in the 1850 US. census in Jones Twp., Elk Co. PA. (Wilcox, PA.) Thomas married Lahella Silvia Ostrander in March 1855, had 2 children, and died in about 1865. He is buried in a cemetery on the Clay Farm near Rasselas, PA. (Elk Co.) Would like to hear from anyone researching this WILCOX line. I will share all I have on the descendants of Thomas & Lahella! Thank you! Dave Kearney, Kane, PA. raznun@penn.com
Martin: I notice two surnames in your list that are of vital interest to me. Willcocks - I am looking for the parents of William Wilcocks b: 1744 - He died 1 June 1802 (his estate sale date) William's wife's name was Phoebe -generally thought to be Ashcraft. Barnes - The above William had two daughter who married Barnes brothers - Lydia Wilcocks & Samuel Barnes 21 Sep 1797 @ Nelson Co., KY. Rachel Wilcocks & Elijah Barnes 03 April 1798 @ Nelson Co., KY. Do these people tie into your line??? Charley F. Wilcox

I went to the site indicated, and it did not show as being adoptable - so I wrote Laura to ask what was up regarding the list.
