    1. [WILCOX] Re: WILCOX, Isaac 1794 USA
    2. Charley and Kathy, The copy of the handwritten family tree that was sent to my Grandmother has part of the first name cut off. Some have only the last few letters and the middle initial. There were 14 children in this family including John Wesley. The birth dates range from 1820-1847. The one that has an "h" visable at the end has a birth date of Apr. 4, 1838. Charley, this certainly sounds like the same family. This GGAunt indicates that Isaac came from KY and was separated from his family during the war of 1812 at about the age of 7. She knew him and said that he couldn't remember who his parents were. I haven't done enough research on this line yet to know if he had a brother William. I'll be happy to give the birth dates and visable letters to anyone that thinks they may connect. This GGAunt died in 1973 and the last of my GAunts died in 1987 so I don't know what else she may have sent them. I'm contacting my cousin to see if she has anything else in her mother's things and maybe there is a copy with the first names visable. 3. I'm [still] trying to find information about Elizabeth. We think she was born about 1819, but don't know anything about her family or where she died. She married Valentine Paul Bernard [born March 1809] and then had at least one son, James L Bernard, born 1839. He died in Richmond, Ray County, MO. James is my gg grandfather. Anyone have any info on Elizabeth? Thanks!! --Jim Bernard

    3. Charlotte, I have been hitting a brick wall with my Wilcox search. Your info struck me. I can't seem to get my Wilcox's out of Henderson County, Ill. Yours notes Henderson so I am very interested. Could Isaac and Nancy have had any other children besides John Wesley. I am hunting for an Isaiah. I have notes that some family came from Ky. and some from Tn. I can't find proof yet. My father was born in Henderson County, Ill. but his memory is shot. He has dementia. Wish I'd started this years ago. Any help would be grateful. 3. Dorothy Wulfeck's book Wilcoxson and Allied Families Page 422 gives 5 generations for this family. Her book says he was orphaned early in life and made his home with a Dr. in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY. He moved to Montgomery County, Indiana in 1828 and later to ILL. to a land Federal land grant he received. I at first confused him with my Isaac Wilcox born 1808 in Harden County, KY. He appeared on tax rolls next to my William Wilcox. They may have been related but I have never established a connection. Do you know who his father was?? and did he have an Uncle William??? 2. Hello List, Does anyone recognize this family? My sister recently found a letter and handwritten family tree that my Grandmother had given her. 1. [WILCOX] WORTHY WILCOX
    2. allens3
    3. Here is the ancestor I am searching for information on: Worthy Wilcox. I have one source that states Worthys year of birth as 1843 in Ellington, NY to a Milo Wilcox and whose mothers name was Martha. In the 1860 Census of Chautaugua County, NY a Worthy Wilcox (age 17) is listed with a Lewis Wilcox and his family. Worthy is listed as a farm laborer. I do not know what relation Lewis is to Worthy or maybe he isn't related. It would make him the right age. The next evidence I have of him is in Will county, Illinois, in the land records he purchased land in 1868, the same year my ggrandmother was born. Children were Lottie Emma (later married J.D. Mitchell), Lucy A.(Barnes, married name), Tom Wilcox and two other sisters of which I only know their married names (Winder of Omaha and Lorimar of Kansas City). I recently received Lucys marriage licenses which list Worthys wifes name as Eliza Breen. This marriage license states that Lucy was born in Massachusetts. J.D. Mitchell and Lottie Emma's children were born in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Their names were: Elsie (1884 KS), Roy (MS 1887), Josie (1889 KS), Isata (1897 in KS), Mable (1900 in OK), John D (1903 OK), Thelma (1908 in OK). Does any of this ring any bells to anyone on the list? Diana in Oklahoma

    3. Hi Linda - I don't have much information on Franklin - Just this: His name was supposed to be Franklin James Wilcox (or Willcox or Wilcocks) - he was born according to family history in Virginia - but according to the 1870 Minnesota Census he was born in New York. He was born around 1833. Family history stated that he served in the Civil War - but I have no confirmation. His parents are supposed to be Obediah Willcox and Anna Eliza Webb - but the source that gave that information has also given some other erroneous information - so I am not sure. I know he had siblings - but know nothing about them. What do you think? 3. Margi, My ancestor, Chauncey Wilcox was born in Ohio, after his family emigrated from New York state. Chauncey was born in the 1842-1844 range. He had seven siblings, among them an older brother Franklin. They both served in the Civil War, in the Sixth Wisconsin. Their parents were William Wilcox and Phylura Randall. I do not know if there may be a connection for you. 3. I am searching for the birthplace of my great-grandfather, Whitman Wilcox, who was born in the State of New York, December 14, 1808; married Caroline Henderson Mussenden in Baton Rouge, LA, June 22, 1842; died in West Feliciana Parish, LA, July 12, 1876. Attended University of Louisiana Medical School (forerunner of Tulane University); graduated in 1837. His parents' names are also unknown as well as any siblings. 3. I don't know if any of my Wilcox line ventured into Quebec, But I do have a string, beginning in Rhode Island (1600s) through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and into Maine (around 1900) Apparently they stayed around Mapleton, ME or some migrated to Aroostook Co. I'm still missing a link in Mapleton where my Father was born in 1902 Jack Wilcox Clear Lake, Iowa (migrates from Mass.)
