This may be a long shot, but I have a gggrandfather, Welcome Wilcox, born 1807 in NY (according to census). I don't know where he was born or who his parents were. First official record is his buying land from the Holland Purchase in 1826, when he was only 19. He is married ? by 1829, when his first son Ransom, was born. He married Harriet Calkins, born 1809 - her father was Matthias Calkins, mother Anna Utter. Matthias was in Aurelius, Cayuga County, NY in the 1820 census, was in Warsaw, Wyoming Co, NY by 1830, and by ages, I think Welcome Harriet and Ransom were also lving with him. Welcome and Harriet lived in Wethersfield, NY, he died in 1862, she in 1872. I would really appreciate your reply. Thank you. Vickivgad@aol.com <mailto:Vickivgad@aol.com > --WebTV-Mail-30788-4874--
Has there been any more news about the book on Ebay? While I'm on, thought I'd ask about my John and Mathilda (PRESTON)WILCOX parents of William Caleb Preston WILCOX b. May 07, 1807 Junie- anything about these folks in the 2 books you already own? Laird- we corresponded several years ago, I hope your searches have been going well! Thanks everyone, Rebecca Wilcox
Try emailing the seller: lws@indyweb.net (Lee Service) or the one who buys it on ebay. Maybe they will copy it for you. I did and he/she told me the oldest Wilcox in it was Peter Willcockse. Then I did a search on that name in Google.com and got alot of the information that is in this book. That told me that he settled in NJ in the early 1700's - probably not my line. My Wilcox's were from CT/RI and upstate NY. Good luck everyone! Marcia Richardson

I just searched "Wilcox" which gives a 5 page list. The Wilcox Genealogy was on about the 3rd page. 517070259 GENEALOGY OF THE WILCOX FAMILY 1736 TO 1908 $11.503Dec-09 20:23
Richard: I read your post re: Peter Wilcockse NOT being your line of Wilcocks. Which line do you descend from?? I am from the line of William & Phoebe Willcocks of Nelson County, KY. I am stuck with William - I know he was born about 1744/5 from a deposition but I have no idea of where he was born; where or when he married; I do know he was with the Virginia Continental Army from 15 Dec 1775 to 1782 but that is about all - he has no pension application or land grants for his Rev War Service. Hi, if you get it, I'll share the cost with you. I have two Wilcoxen books and would love to have more info. Junie
I tried to find this on Ebay under "Wilcox genealogy" and was unable to do so, although a number of other titles were listed under that search term. Please elaborate on this. I am very interested in obtaining it and will send a photocopy to anyone who wants one. Laird Wilcox
Someone is selling the "Wilcox Genealogy" on Ebay. This is the Peter Willcockse line from NJ and Long Island (not my line). It is a 20 or so page book. This list has slowed down quite a bit. Maybe we can revive it!! Marcia Richardson

Thanks, Charlie, for responding; but my Phoebe is one generation earlier. According to the NEHGS's "Genealogies of CT Families," Vol. III, p. 232: 6. William³ Roberts (William,² John¹) was born Nov 20, 1736. He married Phoebe Wilcox about 1756, and lived in Canton. He lost his life in an attempt to cross the dam at Segur's Mill, at low water, about 1774. Their children were: i. William, Jr., d 1824; m. Margaret Merrill. ii. Martin, m. ________ Moses. They removed to the state of New York, and afterwards to the "far west." {Sybil Moses--JCH} iii. Phoebe, b 1761; d. 1837; m. Riverius Bidwell. They removed to Ohio when the youngest child was a little girl. iv. Lucina, d. 1816; m. David Taylor. Their children were: David, Sylvester Pomeroy, Edmund, Lucina, who m. Joel Bacon, Sally, Mindwell and Celestia. v. Reuben, d. 1789, unmarried. vi. Mindwell, b. 1769; d. 1833; m. Gurdon Humphrey. vii. Elizabeth, d. 1844; m. William Humphrey. viii. Asenath, m. Thomas Gleason. My Phoebe Wilcox, above, who married William Roberts, is my "mystery woman." She is not included in Martha Scott Osborne's comprehensive 3-volume compilation, "WILCOX/WILCOXSON FAMILIES of NEW ENGLAND and THEIR DESCENDANTS," (Heritage Books, Inc.; Bowie, MD; 1993). So, I was hoping some astute soul on this, or the WILCOXSON-L might have my Phoebe, b. ca 1735-1740, in their notes, as part of their family. Anyway, thanks for checking, Charlie--I appreciate you going to the effort to look! Julie, endlessly sorting out dead relatives..... nktown17 wrote: > > Julie > > While searching my R.I. Does anyone perchance have a list of all of the children of Daniel (b 1717) and Lydia [HUMPHREY] WILCOX/WILCOXSON of Simsbury, CT? I am seeking the parents of Phoebe WILCOX/WILCOXSON who married, about 1756, William ROBERTS (1736-1774) of Simsbury. Any data or clues gratefully received. TIA! Hi Wilcox List, Does anyone have a Cummins Wilcox in your data base? He is suppose to have been born about 1822 in Tennessee. I would really appreciate hearing from you if you are familiar with this name. Liz Pierce
The migration path of my Wilcox family, according to work by Daniel Haney, passed through Lubec on their way to Mapleton, Maine. My portion joined Haney's at Mapleton. I will see if I can link your section to this. It might take a few days until I get into the files.
