Hello, Wilcox listers. For anyone who might not be aware of this, many Wilcoxes who ended up in Ohio originally came from PA, specifically the Bradford County area, and Orange County, NY previous to that. There is a film at the LDS that details Wilcoxes families that followed this pattern. However, this film is no longer available, BUT, if you look for it, it will give you the name of the BOOK that was filmed and you might be able to obtain THAT by ILL. I was able to a few months ago. (Sorry, I don't have access to the exact name at this time). Of course, MY Wilcox _had_ to do things differently - he went BACK to Orange County from PA. Oh, well. Hope this helps someone. Happy Holidays! Beth C. St. Paul, MN

Patsy, Thank you for replying but so far I have not come accross any of the names you mentioned. I have only found my GGrandfather Thomas Wilcox in Keokuk County, IA and Grundy Co.,IL but that doesn't mean he didn't come North from the South. I have no information on who his parents or siblings are and only found this one piece of information referring to WILCOX name in my Grandmother's album scrapbook. Thomas Wilcox was killed May 1900 in Braceville, IL. and my grandmother never talked about him or about her childhood. Joanne Reno,NV

Maxine, I, too am researching Wilcox's in Ohio, and I saw your postings on the this list. I have traced my gr gr grandfather back to 1856 in Worthington, OH. His name is John Lewis Wilcox and I know his father's name was also John Lewis Wilcox who was married to Esther Wilson. My gr gr grandfather had two siblings, Albert C. and Nettie (who died very young). They eventually moved down to Briggsdale & Grove City in Franklin County, but I was wondering if you had come upon their names in any of your research in Ohio. John Lewis married Nellie Shade--their children are: Frank, Charles (my gr grandfather), Grace, and Ann. Hello List Is anyone out there researching a Edward G WILCOX wife is Mabel E. (nee MURPHY) WILCOX who lived in Chicago/ Rockford/ or surrounding area in IL? I found an obit or part of one for Mabel in my Grandmothers album. My grandmothers father was a Thomas Wilcox m. Isabelle Archibald and I was wondering if maybe Edward G. WILCOX was related. Mabel was buried in Rockford, IL but the obit doesn't show any dates or what paper it was published in. Hope to here from someone on these names. Thank You, Joanne Reno, NV JYardDog51@aol.com
I've decided the search will never be really finished. Always another possibility to look into. So far I haven't any Wilcox from NewJersey, & none that I know of located in the South. But could have. A number had gone West & are lost track of, for the time being. I have known there were a number who settled the Stow area. Also the Wilcox twin brothers who settled Twinsburg. I think Stow & Twinsburg are near each other. Right? But the Ephriam in Wellington remains elusive. The John Dennis Wilcox married to Elizabeth Rockwell may be Ephriam's line. The name Rockwell had been in that area awhile. Maxine Barnett
