    2. Chuck Wilcox
    3. Janet, I saw your post and wondered if your IL Wilcox lived in either Will or Kankakee counties? I'm looking for Wilcox who (probably) moved from New York to here. My Wilcox ancestors (not the ones mentioned here) lived in Clinton and Essex counties in NY, then (1868) moved to Minnesota to near Brainerd. My brick wall is their parents. My ancestors were (spelling according to their headstones) Norman C. Willcox (1808-1884) and wife Cemantha Goff (1812-1879). 3. Janet: I never miss an opportunity to query a fellow "Willcocks/Willcox/Wilcox" researcher from Virginia about the family. I am hung up on William Willcocks b: 1744 @???. He was supposedly married to Phoebe Ashcraft; who according to family ledged was from southern Virginia - where ever that was (no date or place is known). He did serve in the Rev. War with the Virginia Continental Line and the last military record was dated June 1782. He appears on a list (published in 1823 by VA.) of Rev. War Vets who had not applied for pension or received a land grant. I have heard that there was a line of Willcocks near Richmond, VA but have not seen any genealogy charts or article about that family. Do you have anything on a William Willcocks in your Virginia data? Charley F. Wilcox

    1. [WILCOX] WILCOX, KIMMEY, CURIC, PALMER
    2. Joseph S. Palmer (1819-1892) was b. NY, moved to OH, married (Cynthia Parker) there 1845 and by 1847 had moved to IL. Briefly at Sugar Grove, Kane Co., and before 1850 was at Prairie Center, Ophir Twp., LaSalle Co. IL where he remained and died. He was a large & successful farmer of 600+ acres prominent & respected early settler of that place and had 7 children all b. PC. My Wilcox concern lies with his 2nd child daughter Azema. She was born at the farm 1849 and married there Sep 15, 1870 to Fred L. Kimmey. Of her four children only the 1st two survived infancy. These two children, sister and brother, Irene Kimmey and Homer Kimmey were b. 1874 & 1877 (Illinois?) and in the 1890's they married a brother and sister: John Wilcox (m. to Irene 1896) and Lydia Wilcox (m. to Homer 1897). Thus comes about the Kimmey & Wilcox names in my pursuit of the descendants of Azema Palmer wife of Fred L. Kimmey. 1 Joseph Snow Palmer b: Apr 29, 1819 Warsaw, Genesee Co., NY d: Jun 27, 1892 Prairie Center, Ophir Twp., LaSalle Co., IL Burial: Cemetery, Prairie Center, LaSalle Co., IL +Cynthia Parker b: Dec 15, 1823 Lower, CAN m: Dec 15, 1845 Harrisville, OH d: Jul 19, 1899 Ophir Twp., LaSalle Co., IL Burial: Prairie Cen. In 1900 Azema was living in Morgan Park (Chicago) IL Anyone on the list connect? Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD.

    1. [WILCOX] Index to Vermont newspaper notices online
    2. For over a year I have been working on posting an index of names for the marriage and death notices printed in the Vermont Chronicle, an old newspaper that was published between 1826 and 1896. The notices cover towns state wide, and also cover other places, including, but not limited to: Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Canadian Provinces and beyond. The death notices are not full obituaries as we know them today, but sometimes contain other useful information besides the location, name and age of the person. The marriage notices usually just note the bride and groom, but sometimes names of parents. Currently I have the Indexes for 1826-1850 online, with more added as time permits. You can find the indexes at: http://www.middlebury.edu/~swilson/introvc.html Thanks for your interest, hope it can help you in your searches. Sylvia Wilson

    1. [WILCOX] Civil War
    2. Doug & Rebecca Comire Wilcox
    3. In case this topic is piquing the interest of others, these are the names of three WILCOX men who served in the CIvil War from Michigan: Donald Wilcox, hometown: Aurelius MI, age:18, 20th MI infantry Company G Charles J. Wilcox, hometown: BattleCreek MI, age unlisted, 65th IL (Illinois) infantry Company D William Riley Wilcox, hometown: Walton MI, age: 30, 28th MI infantry Company B William is our g.g.grandfather... he is never known (thus far) to have lived in Walton, but rather in Brookfield... unsure why the town Walton is listed As you can see the Charles (not known to be in my line) is from MI but served in Illinois. Don't know if this helps anyone, but thought I'd add what I had. Yours, Rebecca Wilcox

    3. Earl, Appreciate your taking the shot, maybe one of these days I'll get a hit! My g-g-grandfather was Florence F Wilcox. He served with the Thirteenth Regiment Infantry, Company C. According to records I found at http://www.shsw.wisc.edu/roster, he gave his residence as Walworth. I also found a Byron Wilcox from Walworth - my Florence had a younger brother named Byron. Their father was Heman Wilcox, but I have little information on him. I haven't come across any Williams in the information I've uncovered this far. Sorry - appreciate your asking. 2. Pat Kennedy
    3. Pat Kennedy here: Berlin, Wi or Green lake County are just to close to my family....to not send a note to you. My Melisa (Durland) Wilcox 1830 PA-1917 WI......moved to the Berlin area, with her little son, Charles B. Wilcox 1856 Pa-1887 OR....from Luzerne Co, PA.....she was a young widow.....and later md: John Morse, Green Lake, WI. It was to be close to her Durland/Dorland and McConnell families (my understanding.) These were early Orange Co, N.Y.....families. Her husband: Richard B. Wilcox 1800 - 1841/44 brothers & sisters: Oliver Lewis - Mary Jane - Levi - Eunice - Margarett - Gates Smith - Lucinda - Samuel Garrett - Mahala Elizabeth - Daniel WILCOX. (most likely all born Orange Co, N.Y.) So there could be a connection to this family.
