Karen: I am at a dead end with my William Willcocks/Wilcox born 1744/5. So when ever I see a post for a Wilcox born in the mid 1700's; I ask if your ancestor had a brother named William??? Have a good day to-day and a better day to-morrow and Happy Hunting. Charley F. Wilcox
I am looking for the ancestors of Jared Wilcox, born 1758 in Hebron, NY, d Jeffersonville, VT 1839. I have family records for my line of decent from him, which goes through Milford, Mass, then out to Washington State. There was an Edmund or Edmond Wilcox, one of Jared's grandchildren, who moved to Normanville, Kansas--if that branch needs inforamtion on their ancestors, I can help them. Sorry for the 2nd note, I now that 1826 to 1853 online! Sylvia http://www.middlebury.edu/~swilson/introvc.html
For over a year I have been working on posting an index of names for the marriage and death notices printed in the Vermont Chronicle, an old newspaper that was published between 1826 and 1896. The notices cover towns state wide, and also cover other places, including, but not limited to: Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Canadian Provinces and beyond. The death notices are not full obituaries as we know them today, but sometimes contain other useful information besides the location, name and age of the person. The marriage notices usually just note the bride and groom, but sometimes names of parents. Currently I have the Indexes for 1826-1850 online, with more added as time permits. You can find the indexes at: http://www.middlebury.edu/~swilson/introvc.html Thanks for your interest, hope it can help you in your searches. Sylvia Wilson

Gaylord B. Wilcox, born probably Jefferson County, about 1905 and died Syracuse, Onondaga County, NY 1972. Graduated Syracuse University. Social Security issued Wisconsin. Wife Was Mary Stillman. He was missing from NY census records as a child and I suspect he was in Wisconsin. Some of his VanRiper cousins (married a Wilcox) were in Janesville, WI for a short time. Also another cousin married a Richie. Please e-mail if you know parentage. Sharon

High, My name is Charles Wilcox. What Wilcox Book are you talking about? I would greatly appreciate any info on this book. I haven't been able to get past my Grandfather. He was Charles Albert Wilcox born in Hope, North Dakota on March 23rd, 1902. He enlisted in the Marines and said he was born in 1901. I think this was so he didn't have to have his parents permission. I have a copy of his birth certificate, I think. His dad's name was George. His mother was Estella. The 1900 census of N. Dakota has a George Wilcox, born Nov. 1872 in Wisconsin, and his wife Stella, born March 1876 in Minnesota. At that time they had 3 children. Pearl was born July 1893 in Minnesota, Robert on June 1895 in N. Dakota and Myrtle on June 1898 in N. Dakota. Couldn't find them in the same area in the 1910 census. They could have moved to Bismark by then. Have a letter written to my grandmother, Charles ex-wife, stating one of his sisters married a Lewis Peterson and they lived in Grand Forks, N. Dakota. This was in the 1930's. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Charles A. Wilcox
Do you know of any Wilcox's who arrived in upper Canada about 1780 from NewYork they were united empire loyalists who left America shortly after the American revolution Elisha SR by name with 5 sons and a daughter you never know and I just keep trying Regards Bob Wilcox St Catharines Ontario ----- Original Message ----- From: <Juniejoy@aol.com> To: <WILCOX-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 1:19 PM Subject: Re: [WILCOX] need help with a Wilcox book.... > Hi, i think Amazon.com also has it and I'd be happy to look up anything for > you as i have the book. Well, depending on where you live... I know for a fact it is in the library at The Filson Club in Louisville, KY; and it is also in the library at Frankfort, Ky in the Kentucky Historical Library (located in downtown Frankfort). It was written in 1956 and there are some (a few) mistakes in the book. Hi Janet! You have some Wilcoxes in Stephenson Co, IL? I had a relative of mine go to Stephenson Co. Edith Wilcox married Marmaduke "Duke" Chilton, and eventually moved to Oneco, Stephenson Co. There she passed away (about 1850) after supposedly having a couple of children. Duke remarried a lady named Lametta Beam, and they had another son. What are your Wilcox connections there? Chris Wilcox expatriate American in England > Hi, Chuck none of my Wilcox were in that Co. that I know of. of course > some could have went there and we not know about it.
