Hi, i have two Wilcox books, is there anything i can look up for you ? Junie
June: You did not specify what books you have but if you can find time to look I would appreciate any information about a "William Willcocks b: 1744/5 d: 1801 in Nelson County, Kentucky" His wife's name was Phoebe or Phebe I thank you in advance for your assistance. Charley F. Wilcox
I just want to thank everyone for their advise. I do plan on getting a new computer some day soon (but I can't access Dell's inventory either due to my computer problems and I hate dealing with salespeople, but I will call them one day soon). I owned a new Compaq for 2 weeks, but it couldn't maintain an internet connection and took it back to the store after a $75 open box fee. Now I won't get a Compaq. I have tried to install AOL 5.0, but it requires Pentium, which I don't have. Thanks for listening to my frustration. I hope the websites realize the access problems also. Now back to genealogy!! Marcia Richardson
Richard: I, too, have had problems with Familysearch.com. It sometimes takes forever to get into it, and often I can't do it at all. I have a pentium 366, Windows 98 and AOL 6.0 and these don't seem to help. Familytreemaker.com is a vast commercial enterprise that appears to care less and less for their members and contributors. I love the software and find the company distasteful and disgusting, especially their telephone marketing activities. Laird Wilcox
yes, I've had the problems, my favorite website is the BATTERSON page by Jason coffin and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.....what is? Sandra
In response to problems with Ancestry.com on the SNYDER-L@rootsweb list... In the last 6 months, as websites have made changes, one by one I am losing the ability to use most of my favorite genealogy websites. Some I can't get into at all and others scroll so slowly that they are frustrating to use, and others throw domain security warning and shut my computer down. Because I don't have Pentium, I have to run AOL 4.0. This is a list of the genealogy websites I can't access properly any more: familysearch.org - can't get into at all any more familyhistory.com - domain security warnings and shut downs worldconnect.com - what is with that blue line?? and slow familytreemaker.com - scrolls very slowly and too much selling of cds genealogylibrary.com - opens with public screen vs. member screen ancestry.com - domain security warnings and shut downs These used to be great websites and I really miss them. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Is anyone researching Ovil WILCOX, son of Sadoce WILCOXSON and Roxey HAYES? Ovil b. 3 Mar 1790, Grandy, Hardford Co., CT; d. 2 Jan 1862; m. Granville, MA, 23 Sep 1816 to Orpha WRIGHT; children: Richardson, Saphronia, Roxey, James, Augustin, Eliza Ann. I am interested in Ovil's son Richardson. I want to know whether this is the same man as Richardson WILCOX who lived in Philadelphia from 1840's and 1850's, lived in Baltimore in 1865, and married Mary Jane GOSSLER, daughter of John and Mary GOSSLER of Philadelphia. -Allen Farquhar, San Diego

Karen: His Rev War Records place him in Virginia June 1782 (Received final pay) - there in a Court Order for Nelson County made in 1782 in Lincoln County - ordering up to 300 acres to 40-50 people who could not afford to buy land - He appears on the Tax Rolls from 1784 to 1801 when he died. A cousin of mine in California says William Wilcox (3rd a grandson of Old William) stated on the 1880 Census of Cass County, MO. that his father Ezra (Old William's son) was born in NJ. These are the only clues we have as to his origin - I would appreciate your remembering me when ever you see a Willcocks who was born in the mid 1700's. Old William in a deposition given to Nelson County Court in 1799 said he was about 55 years old thus we think he was born ca 1744-45. Not too much for the last ten years is it?? Have a good day to-day and a better day to-morrow and Happy Hunting. Charley F. Wilcox
Just found new information that Nabby Eccleston/Eggleston, who married Gardner Wilcox/Willcox, later married Richard D. Robbins and lived in Voluntown, CT. Richard and Abby had a daughter, Esther Robbins who married James Trail. Also found out that Nabby/Abby's brother, AmoNabby/Abby/Abigail Eccleston/Eggleston Wilcox/Willcox RobbinsCT/NYs Eggleston, lived and died in Cazenovia, NY. He died in 1849, age 53 and is buried there. He had a wife. I'm trying to find out if it's possible that my GGGrandfather, Gardner Nelson Wilcox (son of Nabby and Gardner Wilcox) was born in Cazenovia, NY. I know he was born in NY, but where? Maybe Abby was visiting her brother in Cazenovia when Gardner was born. Looking for more information or advice. Marcia Richardson
