    3. Your post regarding above is very interesting. I do not have time right now to dig out all my data on this family. Please remind me as soon after Christmas as you have time and desire, to pull out a copy of a very old letter (ca 1840?) in which Benjamin Greer is mentioned as the "husband of my grandfather's sister". The grandfather in mention is Benjamin Cuthbert, the husband of Elizabeth Wilcoxson. Elizabeth is the daughter of Sarah Boone and John Wilcox. This "letter" is not complete...only one page, from an obviously longer letter but it does mention several relationships of the Cuthbert/Wilcox family of Benjamin Cuthbert. Will send you content or copy if you are interested. I assume that "sister" was actually sister-in-law. It's so hard for me to figure relationships, when the term in-law was seldom ever used. 3. Wow! I find this fascinating information. I will have to read it several times to get it all straight. (While I must respect the desire to name offspring after parents & siblings, it can be VERY confusing.) If anyone has a handle on this and can make a little "tree" or outline, I would very much like to see it. Thanks, Chris for the info and to Ruth for posting! 3. Mike, I checked my copy of the Wilcoxson and Allied Families. 1. Nothing on William, born 1601. 2. Nothing on Obadiah. I believe the Wilcoxson's from CT are a different bunch than the ones from PA that went on to NC. They may be related in some way but don't think it's been determined as yet. My opinion is that the book will be of little use to you, especially at $70+. There is a Georgia Wilcoxon Lane in Ft lauderdale, FL that does a Wilcoxson newsletter. It's good but is mostly on the CT bunch; although I have found some on my line. I stopped my subscription because she went from $15 to $30 per year and not much on my line. Her info is: Georgia Wilcoxon Lane 2200 NE 33rd Ave. Apt 10-C Ft Lauderdale, FL 33305-1866 e-mail is [email protected] Haven't tried to e-mail her but that's the address she listed in one of her newsletters. However, I have written to her and she has responded. hope this will help you. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Margaret Birdseye 1632 in Stratford/Fairfield CT) are followed in the book. Does book follow son Obadiah Wilcox(son) (b. abt 1648 d. 1713-14)??? How many generations does the book follow?? 3. Hi, The WILCOX List Archives should soon be on the web at http://lists.rootsweb.com/~archiver/WILCOX-L/ There is NO password. I only had one person on one of my lists say they wanted a password so a clear majority for web archives with no password. At this point if we wanted a password the option was not to archive on the web. The list is still a closed list, with has saved you a bit of spam, as it only comes to me and not the list. Keeping in mind the archives are on the web I thought the following post from Brian would be of interest to you. Ruth Daivson --- <ducking and running for cover> RootsWeb has worked very hard to avoid a lot of formalities. The current AUP only has three requirements for the users of free facilities here: o No copyrighted material, save by permission. (Fair Use is obviously OK, though.) o No GEDCOMs in free Web space. (Obviously doesn't apply to lists.) o No commercial activities. But mainly, the acceptable use policy is Just Use Common Sense. Take the copyright issue. For heaven's sake don't ask RootsWeb for talmudic dispensations on the fine points of what is and isn't OK: just use common sense. If folks quote short passages and acknowledge the sources, that's almost surely Fair Use. If someone decides to post a chapter out of one book every day until they post the whole book front to back, that's surely not OK. But RootsWeb doesn't expect listowners to be lawyers with expertise in intellectual property law and to get every nit and nat right; we just want you to accept responsibility for helping us avoid the more egregious situations where we have to waste a day or two's time smoothing things over with a wronged author. Hello, Thomas Wilcox, in his book," Descendants Of William Wilcoxson -- Father Of Connecticut", wrote: "From the similarity of names and other considerations, we are convinced that the John and William Wilcoxson who married Sarah and Rachel Boone were members of our Stratford Wilcoxson family (probably scions of the older John Wilcoxson line), although at present we are unable to positively identify them. Correspondence is solicited from any person who has any information to contribute on this subject". Has any new knowledge on that issue been discovered in the 50 years since that book was written?
