From Thomas Wilcox's 1963 "Descendents of William Wilcoxson", your Ebenezer Wilcox is listed as born on 2/11/1717, and died single in 1753. Nothing more is said of him. OK all you Wilcox researchers, please help me find the ancestors of my 2nd great-grandmother, Margaret Wilcox, believed to have been born in the state of New York in 1809.. She married my great-great grandfather, Benjamin Tibbitts in Michigan. This family lived in Blissfield, Michigan. They had three daughters, Evelyn Nancy Tibbitts, Mary Allen Tibbitts and Frances Amelia Tibbitts. They also had a son, my great-grandfather, Henry Solon Tibbitts. Sure would like to discover the ancestors of Margaret Wilcox. One of you Wilcox's must have some data some place on Margaret. Please let me hear from you. Thank you very much. Wayne L. Tibbitts, 11203 Caravel Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908
I got an e-mail re Colonial pictures for genealogy researchers and asked for more information. There is a whole group of pictures from this town, which is a restored colonial village (museum). Ask me for #9. If you are interested in a picture of this; York Village, Maine- The exterior of the Emerson Wilcox House, the home where the keeper of the Gaol, which is located across the street and up the hill, grew up in. The house was built in 1740. It was added onto in 1760 and 1820. Anyone interested specifically in New England towns, let me know which town and I will send you that e-mail. (I received 22 e-mails with a listing of the pictures ). Also includes VA, GA, SC, NC. The e-mail includes pricing, which ranges from $1.25 per pix for proofsto $5 per pix on CD plus $15 for the CD. I am looking for information on Ebenezer Wilcox born 11 Feb. 1719 or 1720. He is the son of John Wilcox, s/o Joseph Wilcoxon b. 1635 in Stratford, Fairfield, Ct., s/o Wm. Wilcoxon who came from England in 1635 to Concord Ma. and later founded Stratford, Ct. Did Ebenezer have children? I am stuck at this point. Thanks to anyone who might have any pertinent information. Hello Wilcox researchers! I am new to the list, and also new to researching my family history. I am working on the following WILCOX line, and I admit, I am starting to feel like I am looking for a needle in a haystack. If there is ANYONE who recognizes any of these WILCOX names or places, I would be grateful. John Wilcox (born 5 May 1850 in Wilmington, New York) married to Betsey Allen (born 6 September 1855 in Ironville, New York). John and Betsey (Allen) Wilcox had the following children: 1. Bertha Wilcox, born 28 November 18 married ??? Grogan 2. Pearl Wilcox, born 22 June1884 married Henry Sumner 3. Mary Wilcox, born 27 March 1886 married ??? Gannon 4. Allen Wilcox, born 1893 .married ? 5. Frederick Wilcox, unknown 6. John Carlton Wilcox, born 11 June 1892 married Daisy (Lewis)(Hammond), born Drayton Market, Shropshire, England 1882 They were married on 22 May, 1913 in Rutland, Vermont. I believe that all of John and Betsey (Allen) Wilcoxs children were born somewhere in Essex County in the late 1880s through the 1890s. I do know that John Wilcox, my Great,Great-Grandfather, is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, in Crown Point, New York. In the same plot area, there is also an Abner Wilcox and Edwin R.D.Wilcox and his wife, Frances. To date, I have not found any documented proof that these men are related, other than a hopeful guess. I also know that my Great-Grandmother, Daisy (Lewis,Hammond) Wilcox was born in England, moved to Canada to live with her brother, but then moved to Northern New York with a family she had lived with in Canada for a time. I do not know the name of this family though. Once in New York, she met and married an older man named William Hammond, who owned some sort of store there in Essex County. Daisy and William Hammond had a son together, named Frederick Hammond. Daisy Hammond then met John (Jack) Wilcox who worked in the store, and apparently her marriage broke up over this. Daisy and William Hammond divorced, and Daisy married John t to a family named Sheehan. Daisy and John Carlton Wilcox then moved, along with Johns sister Pearl and her husband to Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Daisy and John Wilcox had six children in Pennsylvania, one of which was my Grandfather Frank Wilcox. This is basically all I have as verifiable information on my family. According to a Great-Aunt, she remembers going to Schroon Lake, New York to visit cousins, but she can not remember any of the particulars as she was a very young girl at the time, and it was almost seventy years ago. I have heard that there is a Wilcox Pond located there. The only other solid information I have is that John Wilcox, Sr. died 7 June 1917 in Glen Falls, New York, but his body was removed to Crown Point for burial. Betsy (Allen) Wilcox died in Hudson Falls, NY. I do not know where she is buried. There are also four "mystery" notations found in a family Bible: 1. Grandma Wilcox 14 November 1897 2. Grandpa SMITH 12 November 1900 3. Grandma SMITH 21 April 1900 4. Master John Wilcox, died 31 October Automobile accident. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I welcome any suggestions or leads to further my search. Lynnette Wilcox Burge

Hello: I am new to this list. My WILCOCKS were living in Lustleigh, Devon during the 1700s. They were quite active with the church--Joseph WILCOCKS witnessed many weddings and his wife Ann FROST WILCOCKS was referred to as 'of the Parsonage'. She came from Pethybridge--just 'up the hill' from Lustleigh. We think Joseph was the church warden, and they lived with the vicar. We were given a delightful tour of this home by the present owner. I would love to hear from anyone searchiing for WILCOCKS in and around this area--Bovey Tracey, Wreyland, Ilsington, Moreton Hampstead. Thank you for the explanation, although it would be interesting to know where on earth this HARVEY idea did come from! I will, however, correct my files, including what I have up on my FTM homepage. I seem to be merely a cut and paste genealogy enthusiast so far, and therefore I especially do not want to pass on bogus stuff: too much of that floating around on the Internet and on library shelves already. I do think that online material is superior to books that are wrong, because it gets such wide exposure and can be challenged instantly, as you were able to do. Thanks, David
Hello: I show the spouse of William WILCOXSON (immigrant to Stratford, CT) as a Margaret HARVEY, and there is quite a bit of lineage attached to her. I believe that this information, which I received at least third-hand, is from the LDS Ancestral File? Many with whom I have corresponded recently show Margaret BIRDSEYE as spouse of William. There is obviously a connection between the two families, as both Timothy and Phebe WILCOXSON married a BIRSEYE. Does anyone know where this confusion arose, and whether there is any conclusive proof of either maiden name? IF both names are "correct" due to a prior marriage of Margaret, which was her maiden name and which was that of her earlier husband? David http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/s/h/a/David-E-Shannon

John Willcockson married Daniel Boone's sister, Sarah, in or near Berks Co. PA in 1742. John's places and dates of birth and death and the identities of his parents remain unknown to family researchers despite 70 years of searching. It has been stated, but not proved, that he came from Wales. He might have come to PA from CT or NJ. Can you help? Reg Wilcox

Page 105 THE WILCOXSON -- BOONE FAMILY OF PENNSYLVANIA, NORTH CAROLINA AND KENTUCKY The genealogy of the Boone family mentions several intermarriages between Boones and Wilcoxsons and lists many individuals of the Wilcoxson and Wilcox name. The first reference to interest us in the Boone book concerns a certain John Wilcoxson who married, in 1742 at Exeter twp., Berks County, Pa., Sarah Boone, a sister of the famous DANIEL BOONE. (she was b in 1724 and presumably he husband was born about the same time) The Boons were quakers and it is related that they were severely censured for allowing Sarah to marry an "outsider". As a result of this unpleasantness, perhaps, it is recorded that John and Sarah removed first to Rowan county, North Carolina and later to Shelby county, Kentucky. The Boone book mentions one of John and Sarah's sons, i.e. Daniel Wilcoxson, b 3/13/1755 in Rowan county, N.C. d in 1837in Shelby county, Ky. Married _____Faulkner and became the father of 12 children. He served as a Lieutenant with the Virginia forces during the revolution. The Boone book also mentions a William Wilcoxson (probably a son or nephew of John, who married 7/30/1777, Rachel Boone, at Exeter Twp. Berks county, Pa. (She was probaly a cousin or niece of Sarah, above) It is mentioned in the book that she also was censured for marrying out and that in 1790 William and his wife also removed to Rowen county, N.C. where his near relative was already living. The bbok is silent on the matter of William and Rachel's children but follows the descendants of Daniel Wilcoxson through several generations in Shelby county, Ky. and Boone County, Missouri. From the similarity of names and other considerations we are convinced that the John and William Wilcoxson who married Sarah and Rachel Boone were members of our Stratford Wilcoxson family (probably scions of the elder John Wilcoxson line) although at present we are unable to positively identify them. Correspondence to solicited from any person who has any information to contribute on this subject. It is possible that research in the early land records of Berks county, Pennsylvania would yield information of value. --- I hope this helps.
