Hi Ruth - I just lost my job here with the bank. Please send all future emails to: andrix1@hotmail.com thanks, clw Ruth Blair <vikru@att.net> on 11/27/2001 07:36:08 AM Please respond to WILBURN-L@rootsweb.com To: WILBURN-L@rootsweb.com cc: Subject: [WILBURN-L] Wilburns and Welborns Vikky back again, Same topic as Pulaksi Co KY....looks like I confused everyone. Let me try again. Here is what I am trying to convey... Isaac J Wilbourn b. 1817 in VA is living in Pulaski Co KY with his family in 1860. William B Wilbourn b. 1821 in TN (m to Manerva Seals in Claiborne TN) is also living in Pulaski Co KY in 1860, and is living very near Isaac J Wilbourn. The question.......How are these two Wilbourn families related????? (Isaac and William). My hunch is that Isaac and William are fifth cousins...with Isaac descending back to Edward Wilbourn of Baltimore Co MD who died in 1731. And William descending from Richard Wilbourn of Goochland, VA who died in 1756. (Please keep in mind, that this is merely my THEORY that Edward and Richard were brothers.) I only have one slender piece of evidence that would tie them together. And I could also be wrong too. (The given name Richard does NOT run in the line of Edward Wilbourn/Welborn.) So back to the mystery...How are these two families related????? Here are the choices (As I see them) 1. Both men were brothers. (Yikes! If this proved to be the case, then I have EVERYTHING all wrong!) 2. Fifth cousins. (And if they encountered each other they would have done some serious head scratching trying to figure out if they were some kind of kin.) 3. Not at all....just a co-incidence that Isaac and William happen to live in the same county at the same time and also settled near each other. They each had a seperate set of Wilburn progentiors to America who arrived at different places and at different times. 4. Fifth cousins from Richard and Edward, BUT also much more closely related due to other marriages between these two lines that have spanned for over a hundred years... My THEORY is number #. 4 and in FOUR. I see lots of evidence that these Wilburns/Welborns married into the same families for over a hundred years. Any ideas out there in Wilburn world? Opinions, hunches, theories, evidence, hints, warnings? This much I do know. Other researchers have been seeking this answer for over 40 years. I would like this mystery resolved by noon today. Okay, a week from Tuesday. Warmest regards, Vikky in San Diego ==== WILBURN Mailing List ==== To search the Wilburn-L archives, go to http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
