Vikky Wilburn Anders here... Just recently a Whitaker researcher, (who is also interested in the Wilburn line, since he too, has Wilburn ancestors contacted and posed an interesting question. Which is: What was the relationship between Isaac J Wilbourn b. 1817 in VA and living in Pulaski co KY in 1860 and William Wilbourn m to Manerva Seals b. 1821 in Claiborne co TN? My answer: I have not the foggest idea...other than they appear to be fifth cousins. And they would only be fifth cousins, IF, Edward Wilburn who m the widow Martha Mitchell and who later died in Baltimore co MD in 1731...was a brother of Richard Wilburn who died in Goochland, VA in 1756. (Key word here is IF)...My hunch is this is the case...but in fact, I have no evidence that connects them as siblings...So I am speculating here. But lets assume now that this is correct...Here is the problem.. (Please note, I am speaking roughly now for sake of brevity) Edward Wilburn d in 1731 in Richard Wilburn d 1756 in Goochland, Va Baltimore MD m to Ann Whitlock His son Wm Wilburn (b 1712) Their son Richard (c 1717-1820) m Ann Crabtree his son Lewis b.c 1770 m Susan Blevins (one of this sons..James or Richard Their son James (1736-1811) d in Barron KY appears to be father of Wiilliam W. *b 1821 in Claiborne TN and M Their son Manerva Seals Isaac Wilburn b. 1756 And he and his family end up in his son Isaac b. c 1795 Pulaski co KY in 1860 living in same area as Isaac J his son Isaac b. 1817 in VA Wilburn. ends up in Pulaski Co KY in 1860.... So roughly speaking, we are talking about fifth cousins here...(maybe?????) My hunch is that they are fifth cousins, but are also related much more closely due to other allied families... I have some POSSIBLE clues as to whom these families might be...(key word here is possible) 1. Whitaker 2 Bobbitt 3. Bratton/Braitain 4. Jordan 5. Clonch (sp?) 6. Crabtree 7. Hodge 8 Warren 9. Harmon 10. Swift Anyone have any ideas???????? Any and all opinions or suggestions, or even far better know some facts to share would be GREATLY welcomed.
