Next, I would like to thank ANN GAHAN for all of her research work and for her kind heart in sharing her most valuable knowledge. Ann is always setting me straight whenever I get off track and or supplying me with Wilburn material that I value. Ann, thank you VERY VERY MUCH! Ann Beeson Gahan has worked many years researching material directly from court houses and genealogy libraries long before the internet came along to make things so much easier. Many researchers owe a debt of gratitude to Ann for her many years of work and sharing. I am just one of many who value her knowledge. A most recent example is a posting of mine in which I was seeking information re: Davis Welbourne who m Hannah Haworth and wishing to learn his ancestry. Ann very quickly responded that he was the son of William Wilburn and Prudence Davis of NC. And that William Wilbourn or Welborn was the son of James Welborn and Isabelle TEAGUE Welborn. James Welborn was son of William Welborn and ANN CRABTREE WELBORN. Always looking for help, I then asked my cousin Bill Childs to check out the 1850 Madison Co IN census and tell me the given name of Davis Wilburn's wife. (It's great when you have a cousin on line who has a CD of all of these census records...and is also generous with his time and knowledge too.) Davis Wilburn ...name spelled Wilbourn in 1850 Madison Co IN census was living with his wife HANNAH b. 1797 and their children: John b. 1830, NC William, b 1832 VA and Polly Kelly b 1826 VA --------------------------------------------------------- also living near them were: Lewis Wilburn b 1819 NC wife Nancy Gordan b 1826 OH Melville b 1848 IN Marcus b. 1846 IN ----------- George Wilbourn b. 1815 NC wife Levina b. 1815 IN William M b 1841 IN Ruth C b. 1845 IN --------------------------- Daniel Wilbourn b. 1815 NC wife Nancy b 1825 OH Milton D . 1847 IN Henretta Justice b 1810 NC

Is this the same family that came to St.Francois Co., MO? A James Welborn/Welburn ,son of James Wilburn and Isabella Mary Teague, md. Rebecca younger and brought some of their children to St. Francois Co., Mo. James died here 2 Aug 1841 and is probated in St. Francois Co., Mo. his wife Rebecca died here on 5 Dec 1833. Their children were Moses, Elizabeth, Aaron, Susanna, WilliamThomas, James, Chapley and Carter T. I am interested in corresponding with anyone working on this line. Jeanette.
