I just found some old letters written in May of 1940 by my father (John Barth Wilburn) 1916-1969. He was then living in New Albany in Floyd Co IN. He wrote about his plans to visit his Wilburn cousins in Wichita KS. He also wrote about his father (John Thomas Wilburn) also living in New Albany IN, who planned to visit his cousins who lived in the north part of IN. John Thomas Wilburn (1875-1947) was the son of Nelson Wilburn (1847-1886). Nelson was born in Carter KY. He and his brother Harvey Wilburn (1844-1936) both enlisted with the 144 Division, Company D, from Indianapolis IN during the Civil War. I know that Harvey Wilburn had sons who settled into Wichita KS and that some descendants live there today. Anyone else with Wichita KS roots? If so, I would enjoy hearing from you.
