>From Vikky Wilburn Anders I just came back from my local LDS library. While there I discovered a fairly new family history book (published in 1998) titled 'The Starnes of Southern States'. The author is Jessie Ruth Starnes Russell, like me, she also lives in San Diego. Ms. Starnes-Russell has devoted a number of pages re: Welborn families in AL and GA from the 1850 census records. In addition, she has also included to a long line of Welborns and Starnes families from NC and elsewhere. I did not have a lot of time to review her book, but I can tell anyone who is interested that Ms Starnes-Russell spent a good many years researching her material and her book is very detailed and informative. It would appears that much of her work regarding the Welborn families is also the same work that has been researched by Ann Gahan who also spent a good many years collecting her material for her own book on descendants of the Welborn/Teague/Starnes lines.
