Mary, I have no information re: Wilburn F Stone. But I can tell you that there was at least one Wilburn/Stone marriage. Marion Francis Wilburn m Katherine Stone in Carter KY in 1868. NO doubt there were other Stone/Wilburn marriages too. And yes, this name would certainly indicate that Wilburn F Stone had some Wilburn ancestors. But this does not mean that his mother was a Wilburn. Could be a grandfather or even a relative distantly related to Wilburns and the given name Wilburn handed down to other descendants. Lots of men of another era and today have Wilburn as their given name. I once browsed the ancestry.com and punched in Wilburn as a given name. To my amazement, over 4000 entries appeared. Who knew??? In this book is a portrait of WILBURN F. STONE. I have not had a chance to read the book through to see if there is a story connected to this man, but his name is not mentioned in the biographies. Does anybody know anything about him or does he belong to anyone's family? Could WILBURN maybe have been his mother's maiden name or from her side of the family?
