Karen, I, for one, do not think that Temperance Wilburn b. 1820 and living in CASS Co MO was the daughter of Burwell and Mary Lomax Wilburn. Instead, I believe that she is related to Richard and Lewis Wilburn...who appear to be her brothers. There appears to be another sibling, a female whose name I have forgotten..Suzannah??? There was an Elliott Wilburn in Wayne Co TN in either 1820 or 1830. Along with a Harris Wilburn...I have no idea of their descendants. And I have not seen anything on line that connects to Elliott Wilburn of Wayne Co TN either. I only note this because there was also an Elliott Wilburn in Jackson or CASS county MO... And my hunch is that Elliott Wilburn, Lewis Wilburn and Richard Wilburn were from the same family...and then this would put Temperance Wilburn in this same family also... I would have to have a copy of the 1850 CASS or Jackson Co MO census records to be of more help. Perhaps someone on this forum can provide better assistance. I suspect (but please keep in mind that this is merely a hunch) that Temperance Wilburn connects to the Wilburn family in Surry co NC. Now I am basing this on one thing only. Elliott Wilburn...IF, Temperance Wilburn is related to Elliott Wilburn, and I do not know for a fact that she is, but IF she is, then it is more likely that she is a descendant of the Wilburns of Surry NC. Sorry to be so vague...but I am not on firm ground here. If any of this makes sense, let me know. And I will attempt to do so more digging. Hopefully someone else is more knowledgeable about this family.
