Hello to all of you in Wilburn land. After years of wandering through the Wilburn wilderness I am finally able to make some progress regarding these various and sundry Wilburn and their allied families. And I can only do so, thanks to LITERALLY thousands of other researchers who share their work on the internet. Here is a little tip..If your ancestor has a given name that is something other than James, William, Robert, etc...then this (probably) means that this given name was handed down by an ancestor of the same surname... For example: Barney Wilburn born in TN 1900....probably had ancestors whose surname was Barney...This is what I mean by clues...because there WAS a Wilburn/Barney marriage that took place in KY. And by logging onto the Barney genforum, I did uncover a Barney/ Wilburn connection. And connected to my own Carter KY Wilburn ancestors too. Let me know if you think that I can help in any way. Cheers, Vikky in San Diego
