This Gunnery was one of many men named Gunnery Wilburn. The first known Gunnery Wilburn was b c 1745 and m Judith Owen in Goochland, VA in 1771. He later died in Halifax,VA in 1796. I forgot how many children he named in his will. 8 or 10, I believe. No one named Gunnery mentioned, but he had at least two grandsons named Gunnery. One of them served in the War of 1812 from TN. And or this was a son who was not named in his will. Gunnery also had a son named Obediah who m Judith Martin..and was kin to Obediah Martin.. So it you come across any Obediah Martins...Then the probability is great that they too, are descendants of Gunnery and Judith Owen Wilburn. As you know, this family has roots in Smith Co TN and before that in Bedford Co VA, after Halifax, VA...and then Goochland Va before that time frame. It is believed that Gunnery Wilburn (m to Judith Owen) was the son of Richard Wilburn and Ann Whitlock Wilburn of Goochland, VA. (not proven)...If not son, then he would be a relative of this couple. Cheers Vikky
