Zoern Sr., 65, of 142 Fred street, died Saturday afternoon at the Langlade County Memorial hospital following a long illness. He was born in Antigo on March 21, 1909, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Zoern. A life-long resident of Antigo he married the former Elizabeth Steckbauer on Nov. 14, 1929 in Antigo. She survives. Mr. Zoern was a butcher and worked at the Meyer Meat Market. He later worked for the Antigo Rendering Works for a number of years before retiring in 1971 due to ill health. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Patricia) Evers, and Mrs. Mike (Mary) Sable, both of Little Chute; six sons, James and Irvin A. Jr., both of route 2, Antigo; John J., Bryant; Donald and Gerald, both of Little Chute; and Kenneth, Appleton; three sisters, Mrs. Emmet (Evelyn) Belott, Mrs. Duane (Lorraine) Ellis, and Mrs. Oliver (Virginia) Shampo, all of Jackson, Mich.; a brother, Harvey, Jackson, Mich; and 27 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father in 1947, his mother in 1973, a brother, Joseph, in infancy, and a brother, Walter J., in 1973. Mr. Zoern was a member of St. John's Catholic church, Antigo, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Linus Steckbauer will officiate with burial in the Queen of Peace cemetery. Friends may call at the McCandless-Zobel & Bradley Funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
