He was 86 years old. He was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Antigo, a son to the late Homer and Elizabeth (Rosio) Turcotte. On Jan. 20, 1940 he married Alice Mary Zimmer in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1988 in Crandon. Mr. Turcotte was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in Elcho, and at the Vulcan Corporation in Antigo. During World War II, he served in France with the Indian Head Division of the U.S. Army, participating in the historic Battle of the Bulge. Following military service, he returned to the Antigo area and farmed in the town of Polar and later in the town of Rolling. Retiring in 1980, he built a retirement home overlooking Lake Alice. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel, the Leland Tollefson Post #2653 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Antigo, and a life-member of Paul Marmes Chapter 23 of the Disabled American Veterans, Antigo. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include a son, Michael (Lois) Turcotte, Kenosha and Pickerel, a sister, Frances Carlson, Wittenberg, eight grandchildren, Larry, Bobbie, John, Tom, Don, Michael II, Joseph, Arline, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Turcotte was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Turcotte, a brother, Raymond Turcotte, three sisters, Evelyn Velente, Verna Curran and Wilhelmina "Pat" Turcotte. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bradley Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Strebel will officiate. Burial will be held at the Pearson Cemetery where Antigo veterans will conduct military honors. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
